Weird. You'd think movies made a lot more than music these days with the monumental all-time high grosses and attendance and the well publicized decline in music revenue.

The industry is getting lots of money these days. Streaming has shown to be beneficiary in the long run as far as revenue goes and this is the era of the blockbuster, in both animation and CGI.

But in mid-year 2016, US music industry was up 8% in revenue. If the year-end is similar, that's a $564m increase -- in just 1 year.

I wonder if the music industry can catch up the movie industry. Whether it be because the strong growth in streaming, or movie industry beginning to decline.

This is from box office sales only though doesn't include include dvd,rentals and others. Actual U.S film industry numbers are definitely way higher. That U.S music industry figure includes everything from streaming to touring i'm guessing?

It's practically the standard ticket price here, few movies are cheaper (shorter movies and arthouse movies)

It takes longer (like 2-4 months) for films to make its way to piracy (in good quality) so people who really want to see a film spends the money that month.

Streaming is much quicker for TV viewing and music listening. It's online in a matter of minutes.
