Jess Glynne breaks Rita UK record, coming for Cheryl overall
Quote:
Congratulations to Tinie Tempah, who lands straight in at Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart with Not Letting Go.
The track, which features singer-songwriter Jess Glynne, shifted 110,000 equivalent sales and becomes Tinie’s sixth chart-topper in total. The rapper’s previous Number 1s are: Pass Out (2010), Written in the Stars feat. Eric Turner (2010), R.I.P. with Rita Ora (2012), Tsunami (Jump) with DVBBS & Borgeous (2014) and Crazy Stupid Love with Cheryl (2014).
Jess Glynne earns 4th UK #1 single before her debut album is out for release, a record previously held by Rita Ora with "Hot Right Now"(with DJ Fresh), "How We Do (Party)", "R.I.P." (with Tinie Tempah).
Overall, Jess shares the runner-up record with 4 #1s along with Geri Halliwell, & Rita Ora. Cheryl Fernandez-Versini (formerly Cole) holds the record with 5.

I will say this seems less impressive since Jess only has one #1 as a lead artist, though. At least Cheryl and Geri are lead artists with all their singles.
The reaching and inaccuracy riddled in the title and the OP's posts.
Rita could reach or break Cheryl's record if she pulls out all the stops for this era. Though considering how things came to a literal standstill after IWNLYD and the quality of Poison, I doubt it.
