I mean Britney was the biggest pop star in the world, so why wasn't she offered a part in "Lady Marmalade" alongside Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Mya, Missy Elliott & Lil Kim?
we cant use the argument of "too big" bc at the time lil kim had the most iconic vma outfit & xtina had 3 no1s and 3 albums.soooooooo probably because she didnt wanna kill her good girl image too soon, she did get offered
They didnt want Christina to be overshadowed, nor to be in the typical situation where people assumes the song is a hit because of the feature. Either way, i dont see how Britney would fit in there
Well, they gave Christina the biggest part of the ensemble.. it would have been odd to see Britney in there (though I would have welcomed it) playing a smaller part when they were equally huge forces in pop music and culture at the time. And yes, it probably also came down to vocals.

I believe I read somewhere that Christina's company was at first worried that Lady Marmalade was too 'urban' for Xtina, who was primarily a pop artist at the time. Maybe the concerns were also held by Britney's people?
