I see how embarrassed other fan bases, whose faves can't sing that well, get on a regular. So that would totally unacceptable for me. I need my fave to have flawless vocals.
Yes, I do stan for Britney, but I guess she is an exception. Even though I think she can sing.
Well if it's for pop girls, it would be an ear for good music. But 'good' can mean a lot of things to different people.
But on the wider scale, a singer's most important talent should be vocals. I mean, would you critique an English paper if you didn't speak English?
Only a Riri stan would consider "an ear for good music" a talent x98988125
Anyway singing. Then Writing/Producing. Then Dancing. The other 2 are not talents and" an ear for good music" doesn't even exist, because music is subjective.

How is it not a talent? Some people have outstanding voices but struggle to make it in the industry because they wouldn't know a good song even if it hit them in the face. Are you saying everyone has an equally developed sense for music? Why aren't we all musicians then?
Being able to perform. That's really important for a pop artist. So i'd say vocals and/or dancing. This is why I can't even take the new girls seriously.

um, but having a good ear for music IS a talent and is necessary for success. What are the point in good vocals if the music you're singing isn't good?

Musicianship has nothing to do with picking a hit song. Prince has musicianship. Beyoncé has musicianship. Mariah Carey has musicianship. Rihanna does not.
But she's an interesting person, she has some nice songs and sometimes she delivers a decent performance, so I get it.
