Sam Smith misses the timeless element in today's pop stars
Quote:
I sound awful saying this all the time, because it sounds like I'm slagging off current pop stars, which I'm not, because I love pop culture. But I feel like class and romance have gotten lost. We've become a bit lazy, not just in terms of music. I miss the days when girls would wear full long dresses and just stand onstage and sing. That's what I'm trying to bring back: that timeless element. I want to create music that people will be listening to in fifty years, you know?
It does sound a bit **** shame-y but also very nostalgic too. I guess he was probably just misunderstood.
But who's to say people won't be listening to We Found Love and Poker Face in 50 years? Music is supposed to evolve, it's the reason why people don't write classical symphonies anymore.
That's probably just what attacks him to be a fan of someone like y'all can chill for a second. Let's not pretend we don't like our fav because they are different in their own ways
He's talking about people using antics on stage instead of real talent to perform. What Mariah, Whitney, Celine, etc used to do. He has a point. No one just gets on stage and sings nowadays (except for Adele).
