DANCE/ELECTRONIC SONGS FORMULA:
(same as Hot 100 formula, except for addition of Club Play)
Download Sales and any available physical sales (divide by 12)
Airplay (divide HOH BDS format actual audience impressions for Chart Reporters by 7,500)
On-Demand/Tethered Streaming (divide by 150)
Radio Streaming (divide by 300)
|
The new formula is
Sales / 12
Airplay / 7500
Overall Streaming / 450
Harlem Shake
262000 / 12 =21,833
2,000,000 / 7,500 = 267
103,000,000 / 450 = 228,888
250,988 total points
Thrift Shop
412,000 / 12 =34,333
111,000,000 / 7500 = 14,800
10,100,000 / 450 = 22,444
71,577 total points
Billboard mentioned that Harlem Shake got 3.5 more points than Thrift Shop. Let's see if the math is correct.
250,988 / 71,577 =
3.50654
If Thriftshop is a typical #1, then ........
Thrift Shop
SALES: 412,000 / 12 =34,333
RADIO: 111,000,000 / 7500 = 14,800
STREAMING: 10,100,000 / 450 = 22,444
Thrift shop is not a normal #1 though.
412,000 Sales is greater than the average #1 would get.
10.1 million streams is greater than the average #1 for streaming (we will find out in the coming months if 10.1 million is on the high side.......)
TYPICAL STREAMING ON A WEEKLY BASIS (let's assume that Harlem Shake didn't blow up last week)
