My point is that if you ask the GP about "Unapologetic" they'll be able to remember it by songs like "Stay" "Diamonds" and "What Now" ( ) or if you ask them about TD they remember it by Wide Awake, Part of Me, The One That Got Away etc. With albums like "4' most of the GP can't tell you a single song off the album...

Singles are what turn regular listeners into fans, who in turn buy the album. So yes, I'd say singles are more important. The only people who will say albums are more important are the ones who's faves can't sell as many singles as their contemporaries.

Singles are more important for representing an artist. But you only need a few smash hits for that. Gaga has Just Dance, Poker Face, Paparazzi, Bad Romance, Telephone, Alejandro, Born This Way, The Edge of Glory, Yoü and I and Applause.
