If i had the money, I'd get a galaxy note 2/3.
I picked up a demo and it felt so small on my one hand.

The Galaxy Note 2 is the only good Android phone imo and ***** on the iPhone.
I hope the 3 is good and not just stuffed full of gimmicky S4 features.

Samsung’s Galaxy Gear, a wristwatch-like device with features of a smartphone, and Note 3 will be introduced Sept. 4, according to people familiar with the matter. Sony’s latest Xperia handset, featuring imaging sensors used in its TVs and cameras, will be unveiled the same day, two other people said.
Samsung is widely expected to reveal a smartwatch coined Galaxy Gear in the coming months, possibly as soon as Germany's IFA trade show in early September. A Bloomberg report last week ambiguously identified the Gear as being able to "make phone calls," but The Verge has learned today that the Galaxy Gear will definitely not be a phone unto itself. "It works with phones," one source tells us, suggesting that it will be a smartphone companion just as most other recent smartwatch efforts have been. "The watch is not a phone."
A true "watchphone" is a self-contained unit with its own SIM card, cellular radio, and data connection, rather than pairing to a smartphone over Bluetooth as rivals like Pebble do. That might sound far-fetched, but it's not: in fact, Samsung has made smartwatches with built-in phones in the past, though they were never widely distributed on a global scale. The rise of data sharing plans makes the idea of sticking a dedicated SIM in a watch slightly more reasonable, but there are more practical concerns that previous watchphone efforts have failed to fully solve: how do you talk without using a Bluetooth headset? How do you conserve the tiny battery? How do you make it small enough to look like a regular watch?
Barring a surprise event from Apple, Google, or Google's Motorola unit in the next few days — all of which are widely reported to be working on wearables of their own — Samsung is poised to become the first major manufacturer to announce a smartwatch since Motorola's MOTOACTV in 2011 and Sony's Smartwatch series.

This smart watch thing is never going to work. And I say that in general. Not even Apple could make it work. Where's the logic in buying an expensive watch to display info from your phone when it's just as easy to pull your phone out and have the full experience?
A flexible screen would be cool but that doesn't change anything. It's still a lame concept.

We’ve been hearing a lot about Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch dubbed “Galaxy Gear” in recent weeks, and just a few days ago Samsung’s Lee Young-hee confirmed that the device would make its first official appearance at the company’s event scheduled for Sept. 4 in Berlin. Today, Evleaks points us to the screenshots above showing what appears to be the device’s companion app that will likely be available for all Android devices, although there is still the possibility it will only support Samsung’s own Android devices.
The screenshots above confirm the device will pair with Bluetooth, and there is also a section within the app to manage “Samsung Apps.” Another feature called “Find my watch” sounds a lot like a feature for locating a missing Galaxy Gear and Samsung also references wireless charging: “turn on NFC in Settings and bring the mobile device and charger together, back to back.
We reported previously of claims that the Galaxy Gear would pack in a 2.5 inch OLED display, dual core processor, an accelerometer, speakers, and built-in NFC, and another that added 1GB of RAM, a “320×320 1.67-inch AMOLED display” and an ARM Mali-400 MP4 GPU. There is still nothing official for specs, but it’s likely we’ll be seeing something similar to the above based on the prototypes and developer units floating around.

SONY READIES A CAMERAPHONE REVOLUTION
Like Samsung, Sony will be bringing a smartwatch to IFA (the aptly titled SmartWatch 2), however the Japanese company appears set to unveil an even more ambitious smartphone accessory: the QX lens cameras. Combining the lens, sensor, and image processing into a single attachment that straps onto the back of your phone, Sony hopes to deliver something akin to a modular Galaxy Camera setup. Two QX modules are expected at IFA: one built around the awesome RX100M2 sensor for the best image quality, and a second offering 10x zoom for greater flexibility. You’ll be able to use your iOS or Android device as a viewfinder with each of them.
YOU CAN'T FAULT SONY FOR LACK OF AMBITION
Sony is hitting on a subtle market niche with its QX series: point-and-shoot cameras tend to have terrible interfaces and weak sharing options, whereas smartphones lack manual focus rings and other benefits of dedicated physical controls. Splicing them makes sense, but the cost of owning the pair will have to be at least somewhat reasonable for the QX idea to really take off.

Samsung
The Koreans are notorious for using IFA’s pre-show dates to hold glamorous “Unpacked” events in Berlin and this year won’t be an exception to the rule. Quite on the contrary, as Sammy is tipped to introduce several new gadgets to the world on September 4.
The Galaxy Note 3 is the definite number one on the list, but with a familiar plastic design, less than stellar camera and a 5.7-inch display that some consider small (we live in a crazy world, eh?), the Note 3 will have its work cut out for him (her?) in fending off Sony and HTC’s threats.
Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Gear, the company’s first smartwatch, is anticipated with much excitement by self-proclaimed visionaries, who seem to think wearable technology is the future. I for one don’t agree, but I’ll certainly be keeping an eye on the Gear, tipped to come with a 2.5-inch touchscreen, dual-core CPU, Bluetooth 4.0 and gesture support.
As far as slates are concerned, a Galaxy Note 10.1 follow-up could be due, even if no tipster or leaker has mentioned anything like that of late, plus a kid-friendly 7-inch Galaxy Tab and maybe even a GTab 10.1 Plus with a Full HD screen and octa-core processor.
Sony
If Samsung disappoints, Sony could rise to the occasion and deliver, with the Xperia Z1 (aka Honami) phone and a SmartWatch 2 (that’s right, the Japanese already have an Android-compatible wristwatch, albeit one that no one knows exists).
The Xperia Z1 is expected to become official on September 4 (Note 3, beware) and Sony has so much trust in this thing that they are putting everything they have into it. Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2 GB of RAM, Full HD Triluminos display, 20 MP camera with G Lens, water protection, you name it, the Z1 will sport it.
But wait, there’s more, as we could also be seeing a “Mini” version of the Z1 presented during or before IFA. This little guy will sport a 4 or 4.5-inch display, but other than that it’s expected to be just as groundbreaking as big brother, unlike Samsung’s GS4 Mini or HTC’s One Mini.
HTC
It’s not like the Taiwanese to conduct a subtle, almost shy hype-boosting campaign on the eve of a big launch, but sadly for them the One Max looks like it has nothing against Sony’s Xperia Z1. And Samsung is Samsung, so you know people will expect greatness from them.
But I’m here to tell you that the One Max is not to be overlooked, at least if you dig jumbo-sized phones. After all, what could be cooler than an HTC One with the same breathtakingly solid aluminum build, plus a speed boost and screen size upgrade?
LG
Unlike the competition, LG has chosen to showcase the G2 ages before IFA, at the risk of losing the spotlight once the Berlin event will be underway. Then again, the Koreans look like they have one secret (well, not so secret anymore) weapon saved for September too – the G Pad 8.3.
Confirmed already courtesy of a video teaser, the slate is tipped to sport a 1,920 x 1,200 pixels resolution panel, plus pack quad-core Snapdragon 600 heat under the hood. The price tag? Unknown, which is why it’s still hard to say if this will be a Nexus 7 killer or a DOA slate like many others before it.

First of all lets recap on the specs. The Sony Xperia Z1 will come with a 5-inch 1080 x 1980 pixel resolution TFT display. Like the Xperia Z Ultra it comes with a TRILUMINOS display and X-Reality for mobile. The Xperia Z1 will be water resistant and rated IP55/IP58, above that of the Xperia Z (IP55/IP57). Sony continues to use the OmniBalance design and this time includes a “solid one-piece aluminium frame”.
It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 chipset which includes a 2.2GHz quad-core processor and Adreno 330 graphics. It will also have 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, a microSD memory card slot and a 3000mAh battery capacity.
On the camera front, Sony says that the Xperia Z1 has the “world’s leading camera in a smartphone”. It backs this up by saying “independent testing has confirmed that Xperia Z1 provides the best overall image quality of all leading smartphones”. However, we don’t know whether this includes the Lumia 1020? We hope to find out more on this tomorrow.
In terms of camera specs, the rumours were spot on. Sony is using a 1/2.3-inch 20.7MP Exmor RS CMOS image sensor. This will include Sony’s G Lens (27mm wide angle and bright F2.0 aperture) and “BIONZ for mobile” image processing engine. Sony also talks about a suite of Xperia camera apps that will launch with the device, much of these we have already seen in previous leaks. This includes apps such as Info-eye (visual search), AR effect, Timeshift, and social live.
The Xperia Z1 has dimensions of 144 x 74 x 8.5mm and weighs 170 grams. The handset will launch with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean in three colours (black, purple and white). We can also confirm that Sony expects the handset to go on sale globally during September. Great news for Xperia fans and CEO Kazuo Hirai is certainly delivering on his promise to shorten the lead times between announcement and launch.
