9 Dead at Charleston Church. White Shooter Identified

Eight people were shot Wednesday night at a black AME church in Charleston, S.C., during bible study gatherings.
Police responded to the shooting at the Mother Emanuel AME Church around 9 p.m., according to the Post and Courier. Mother Emanuel AME is one of the largest and oldest black congregations in the Charleston region.
On this day in 1822, Denmark Vessey led the largest slave revolt in American history. Denmark Vessey was from Charleston, S.C. One of the founders of AME Church (Where the shooting occured), and today is the anniversary of the rebellion.
