I wouldn't be writing about this if not for the launch of a video for Shakira's first single from her upcoming album "Can't Remember to Forget You" featuring Rihanna.
In it, the two superstars cavort in a number of erotically charged scenarios that show them as lesbian lovers. Not that this is groundbreaking or hasn't been done before but it seems more than a bit exploitative when you are not even willing to speak up on LGBT rights.
Come to think of it, Rihanna hasn't necessarily been a beacon of light for the Caribbean's LGBT community either or advocated for changes to homophobic policies in the regions despite her huge influence there.
They're popstars, they don't want to spend valuable time campaigning for gay rights. I mean it's pathetic that anyone should have to campaign for gay rights, correct me if I'm wrong but aren't we in 2014?
Tbh, I understand why people would be upset about them seeing about a guy but acting sexual with one another. It's fake and used all of the time. Hopefully they switch the words to "she" or something in a performance. But is this article about them not campaigning for gay rights? Because that's a totally different issue
Not every artist has to stan for the gays, in fact, no artist has to.
We should be happy with the help we're getting and not help the stereotype by being whiny bitches who complain about everything.

You can say that from the UK, but it's a different reality in the Caribbean.
If shooting a music video that will be broadcasted to the masses with sexually charged, same-sex themed visuals whilst not making a huge deal of out it is NOT supporting the LGBT community then I am donE.
In fact, Shakira and Rihanna not making huge statements about LGBT issues is, in a way, supporting the community. It shows that society is progressing in terms of acceptance. (But then again, that is because they are females, but lets not get into that)
Rihanna's a simple girl from Barbados and Shakira's from South America. I don't think they really have their minds thinking about LGBT rights, which is completely okay. The fact that this is from Gaga Daily
Oh okay, I see the source now. I think the article/blog brought up some interesting points... I'd love if they both addressed it. Sexuality is on a spectrum- it's okay to be heartbroken over a guy and find love/happiness with another girl
