In some respects, the consumption chart will mirror the present sales charts in that sales and streaming tend to correlate, with certain exceptions. In a mock-up of last week’s consumption chart, the Disclosure album, which　placed #213 in pure sales with a modest 1.8k, vaults to #64 with a total album equivalent of 8.9k, thanks to 3.3m streams and 48k sales of "Latch." An even more dramatic example is Tove Lo’s debut EP Truth Serum on Island, which is #302 in album sales but has a total consumption rank of #48, the result of 4.3m streams and 64k singles sales on "Habits (Stay High)."
　
Overall, the most dramatic effect of the consumption chart will be to lengthen the tails of bona fide hits by measuring their aftermarket impact, potentially providing the labels with additional time in which to market these hits. Katy Perry’s PRISM (Capitol), for example, moves up 45 slots from its pure sales ranking　of #61 to #16, while Jason Derulo’s Talk Dirty (WB) goes #82-22.

A new chart to rank albums/eras every week based on everything related to that album (album sales, single sales and streams). They believe it will become the new industry standard, replacing the BB200 (which will continue to exist).

I don't mind this. Things are changing and I feel like it's long overdue. Sales shouldn't be the only thing to see what album is the most popular at that moment in time.

I would like to see, however, BB 200 still exist (purely on sales), a streaming chart, and one that combines as an overall 'here's what's the most popular'. I wouldn't want sales/steams to be the only definitive chart.

I like it tbh. We no longer need to argue over who is smashing overall because we will have the answer.

I just dont like the idea of singles or streaming weighing more than albums. Not sure how that part is going to work.

Hmm...I want to wait to see how it looks like before judging.

I remember last year people were freaking out after Harlem Shake, thinking streaming would mess up the T10s/#1s forever. But there's been not really been #1s due to crazy streaming weight, and the T10s there have been due to that have been like 1-week wonders.

This seems to be a great point too. They should be pretty similar, except for artists like in between 2 eras, so they could have a decent # of points from each. That shouldn't be too common though. Not everyone tries to release an album every year.

Streaming's relevance is too important to ignore. More people are streaming albums than actually taking out the money to purchase them.
