The typhoon in the Philippines hits close to home for Jessica Sanchez. Even though the American Idol runner-up was born and raised in the United States, she has family over there and her mom is from Bataan. Sanchez will be performing a live benefit concert on Stageit.com Friday night, all of the proceeds will go the the America Red Cross to help victims.
"My grandmother and my grandfather live over there right now but my grandmother's visiting so my grandfather's over there and we called to see if he was okay and thankfully he was, I mean it's just tragic what's happening over there."
Earlier this year, Sanchez performed in Manila. She says it was an unforgettable experience.
"It was amazing, that was my second time there and that was before my album came out but I sang just like covers there and it was a sold out concert. The arena was huge and they're so so supportive."
Jessica will soon be going to the Philippines, along with Filipino boxer Manny Pacquaio.
"We're going to be fitting 4 to 5 thousand hearing aids into kids ears that have never heard before...it's just gonna be an amazing amazing experience for me... I'm hoping that when we go over there I can help with the, with everything that's happened, all the victims from the typhoon too, so I'm just excited to go back and do all these fundraisers and stuff."
Jessica will also be part of the tree lighting ceremony at Hollywood and Highland Thursday night.
