August 6th marks the anniversary of pop art legend Andy Warhol's birthday; he would have been 85. To commemorate the occasion, the Andy Warhol Museum has launched a live video feed of Warhol's grave that anyone around the world can stream 24/7.
""This will give Warhol the pleasure of knowing that he is still plugged in and turned on.""
The artist's grave is situated in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It's a popular pilgrimage site for fans, many of whom come bearing gifts referencing Warhol works such as Campbell soup cans and Coca-Cola bottles. The webcam project is a collaboration with the live webcam network EarthCam, and has been named Figment after a famous Warhol quote: "I always thought I’d like my own tombstone to be blank. No epitaph and no name. Well, actually, I’d like it to say 'figment.'"
Figment is "a really fantastic way to put Andy on the air 24/7 and plug in to our global audience," said Warhol museum director Eric Shiner to the Associated Press. "We believe that this will give Warhol the pleasure of knowing that he is still plugged in and turned on over 25 years after his death."

It's like they didn't even read the quote from him that they cite on the website.
Quote:
I never understood why when you died, you didn’t just vanish, and everything could just keep going on the way it was only you just wouldn’t be there. I always thought I’d like my own tombstone to be blank. No epitaph and no name.
Well, actually, I’d like it to say “figment."
