With less than 90 days until the 2012 Presidential election, the rhetoric between the Obama/Biden and Romney/Ryan campaigns will heat up. The lines are divided, with each campaign looking to not only shore up its base, but try to appeal to the independents and moderates that will ultimately help decide the election. Will President Obama have four more years, or will Gov. Romney take over the White House?
This thread will be used for ALL political discussion pertaining to the 2012 Election. If you have any interesting news from Federal, State or even local elections (though really...let's not), post it in this thread. This includes (but not limited to): Gay marriage/rights, abortion, states rights, affirmative action, student loans, war, healthcare, civil rights, gun control, etc.
Each week I'll update the electoral map below to show how the candidates are fairing.
Ground Rules
1. Keep it cute. Most of us here are liberal when it comes to most issues, but there are a minority of conservatives here. Debate the issues, debate the idea -- don't attack other posters simply because they disagree.
2. Expose the lies. While this thread will hopefully include a lot of opinions, there should also be facts as well. If you see a bold face lie trying to be passed off as fact, expose it for the bull**** is it.
3. Try to learn something. Anyone can repeat talking points heard on FOX or MSNBC, but do your own research. This election is crucial to those of us 18-30, and those that will turn 18 within the next four years. If you were on the fence about voting, hopefully this thread will convince you just how important it is to vote.
I cleared this with Ace, who told me to go for it.
If only both sides weren't so disappointing.
