I've been seeing a lot of people writing on here that they find some of the lyrics in "Cheerleader" to be offensive, while others have leapt to defend the song saying it's cute. So I'm putting it to the vote
With lyrics such as:
Quote:
She is always in my corner
Right there when I want her
She grants my wishes like a genie in a bottle
Cause I'm the wizard of love
And I got the magic wand All these other girls are tempting
But I'm empty when you're gone And they say
Do you need me?
Do you think I'm pretty? Do I make you feel like cheating?
And I'm like no, not really 'cause
Kidding I love this massive song. I'm glad it having massive WW success. The first time I heard it was on Los Angeles Alternative radio in January. Obviously they just played it randomly cuz it was never intended to be played on Alt radio. Just thought that was funny 😂😂
I don't like the song, but why on earth does everyone feel the need to over-analyse every damn lyric of it. I'm seeing it as a common trend with pop songs, like AATB for example was probably written in like 5 minutes but people have typed essays on all of the negative themes and ideas throughout it, like chill.

It's making it even more viral. It's coming for 300 million streams on Spotify fast.

Because Pop culture is the way in which a lot of societal attitudes and behaviours are reinforced or entrenched into society. You might not think it's important, but it is.
