Z000 is Overloaded 2013: Top 25 Songs + Recap
No! No! No! I haven’t pull a Houdini and left without a trace again. I’m back (for the umpteen time) to finish what I have started. As most may not know that I have fail to finish my Best of on time even with the extended amount of hours given before they pull the plug. Even cutting out some of genre countdowns, I couldn’t get it done. I left off with part 7 of my top 200 songs and I still need to show my top 25. Not a good start to 2014 huh? I join the infamous list of people who couldn’t complete their Best of. It doesn’t even help that I have became sick twice during the event.
After the event was over, I went MIA on ATRL. I have been juggling school and other stuff and haven’t even look back at my uncompleted Best of until now. Oh yeah, I became sick for a third time, but I got better. Still allergy season is coming up and sh!t I got to embrace for that. I got less stuff to do now and spring break is coming up so this is the perfect time to jump on back this crazy train.
Now even though I said that I need only to post the top 25 of my top songs countdowns, but since there is no deadline, I figure I also post the rest of the genre countdowns that got cut off of the Best of because I thought I would finish on time without time and look how that turn out. Besides if I don’t make them now, I will probably never will. There are quick to make anyway. Plus my album countdown and top Movies/TV Shows/Video Games countdown. The reason why I have the Best of its own thread instead of posting in my personal countdown because I want my personal countdown thread to only have my personal countdowns and not anything else. That’s the way I decided to go.
As soon as I can get this done, I will update my countdowns I left paying dust. Bear with me, please. Don’t worry I will comment on your countdowns while I update. I haven’t been listening a lot of new music anyway. The first update will start soon. You guys didn’t even know I disappeared did you? I’m alright if you feel that way since that happens in real life too and I’m okay with that.

Top 25 Indie Songs of 2013
Feedback Section:
jose168-My long ass posts are iconic huh? I will update my weekly countdown as soon as I can get this done.
Brandon-Thanks.
Sunderland 4ever-Thanks sir.
AshleeSimpsonFan-So am I!
Let’s get back into this Best of before I somehow disappeared again. I haven’t been paying much attention to Indie music the past few year’s The last time I was into and actually pay attention to Indie music is back at 2011. Funny it’s the year that I didn’t like in terms in music and everything else that I really liked Indie music. I will get into Indie music again this year or at least I try to. By the way, Indie music is where we heard all the independent artists gives us their unique and creative sound and features the eclectic side of music with mostly indie rock artists that are new or well known in the indie world. Oh indie does not mean pop stars that have fallen from grace with their lowest sales are the same as actual indie bands that those bands were even lucky enough to sell that much in the first place like how ATRL refined that word. Here's all the indie songs that I actually listened to and liked the most.
25 California Mazzy Star
24 Head On Man Man
23 You & I Local Natives
22 Mercy TV on the Radio
21 All I Know Washed Out
20 Monomania Deerhunter
19 Demon Dance Surfer Blood
18 No Destruction Foxygen
17 Recover CHVRCHES
16 First Time Caller White Lies
15 Demons The National
14 Gun CHVRCHES
13 Oblivion M83
12 Sea of Love The National
11 Never Wanted Your Love She & Him
10 San Francisco Foxygen
9 I Could’ve Been Your Girl She & Him
8 We Sink CHVRCHES
7 Don’t Save Me Haim
6 Don’t Swallow The Cap The National
5 Afterlife Arcade Fire
4 Y.A.L.A M.I.A
3 Free Your Mind Cut Copy
2 Wishes Beach House
1 Step Vampire Weekend
The top 2 was tough to decide who will take the #1, but at the end I decided to give it to Step because I enjoyed that song the most out of the two. Did you at least know who are these unknown artists and their songs maybe?

Top 75 Alt. Rock Songs of 2013
Feedback Section:
AshleeSimpsonFan- TMWS is really a great song so glad you got into it and their album... oh man, that is some good sh!t I ever hear with their atmospheric sounds. You got some amazing songs like Wishes, The National songs, and the She & Him songs. Some nice thoughts from you.
Brandon-Good to see you like CHVRCHES.
Alterative rock music has always been my favorite genre of music and in 2013, I have really enjoyed it. I already knew what to place certain songs on the top half of the countdown and when I reached towards the bottom, I had a tough time to place which songs in and which ones to snub. I have made my decision and I’m here to show you the countdown. Now, I noticed, like other genres of music, alterative rock has really change its style and it seems only certain sounds of music is the core preference while the others are neglected. I mean like the most preferred sound in alt. rock is electronic, folk and up-beat pop influenced songs. Bands like Passion Pit, Phoenix, Grouplove, and Mumford & Sons benefited from it. While bands like Panic! At the Disco, Jimmy Eat World, & AFI seems to struggle to appeal to their audience since their style of music is no longer the preferred one and does not help that the songs they make seems to be not that impressive. And we got bands like Muse, The Killers, and 30 Seconds to Mars that just make whatever music they feel like since not only they been in the music scene for a long time and have a solid and sustainable fan base and appeal to their audience, the style of music has changed and they decided to experiment their sounds based on that or just want to put out what they feel like making and not care about anything since they already at their peak. Alt. rock music is different today from the 00s and way different in the 90s with band like Nine Inch Nails, Stone Temple Pilots, and Nirvana. It’s just the way it is. Here’s the countdown where I feel that 2013 was a really good year for alt.rock and it is true since there have been a lot of crossovers as well. I have enjoy it a lot. Oh, it is alt.rock music and not alternative music, this means no songs like Berzerk, Hail to the King, Wake Me Up, Royals, or There‘s No Going Back are here, which have been played in alternative radio.

Anyway, of all the sweetness that I loved, Imagine Dragons just conquer this countdown right here. They owned the top 2 and I wished I have the chance to see them live. Well, since they rule the top 2 here, Will they also rule the top 2 in the main countdown? Seriously, I had enjoy alt. rock radio and music in 2013. All those unique and similar styles come together and blew me away. Getting into them just makes me feel good. What do you all think of this great sh!t?

Top 35 Hard Rock Songs of 2013
Feedback Section:
ClashAndBurn-It is a nice song.
potentbreakupsong-Thanks and good favs you like.
I forgot to mention that alt.rock also did a great job in bringing new bands in the spotlight like fun. and Imagine Dragons from 2012 and The Neighbourhood and Haim in 2013. Now, enough of alt. rock, let’s get into the hard side of rock music. I haven’t listen to much hard rock music in 2013, but I still enjoyed what I have heard. I just wish that it was more exciting and intense like it was before though. Here’s the songs that made it into the countdown that kept my heart pumping…blood.
35 Diamonds Farewell 2 Fear
34 Ropes In Flames
33 Lift It Up Five Finger Death Punch
32 Tired Stone Sour
31 Burn It Down Mindset Evolution
30 In Due Time Killswitch Engage
29 Open Letter Amity Affliction
28 Smells Like a Freak Show Avatar
27 America Motionless in White
26 Warrior Evans Blue
25 Hangman’s Body Count Volbeat
24 Swerve City Deftones
23 Live It Up Airbourne
22 In the End Black Veil Brides
21 Hollow Alice in Chains
20 Here’s To Us Halestorm
19 Fly on the Wall Thousand Foot Krutch
18 Lola Montez Volbeat
17 Trenches Pop Evil
16 You Think You Know Device
15 Stardust Gemini Syndrome
14 Misery Loves My Company Three Days Grace
13 Always Killswitch Engage
12 That Day Nonpoint
11 Die for You Otherwise
10 Decay Sevendust
9 Light Up the Sky Thousand Foot Krutch
8 Adrenalize In This Moment
7 Anastasia Slash ft. Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators
6 Fire, Fire Heaven's Basement
5 God Is Dead? Black Sabbath
4 Vilify Device
3 Never Never Korn
2 Deal With The Devil Pop Evil
1 Hail to the King Avenged Sevenfold
I really enjoyed the songs in the top 7 the most and out of all of them, A7X is their king and hail to them.

Top 20 Metal Songs of 2013
Feedback Section:
I forgot to mention that active rock seems to play songs that do not really fit that format at all. Fall Out Boy, Imagine Dragons, and Muse all had at least a song played at that format in 2013. So, we could bring back modern rock radio? Or something similar between active rock and alterative? Just saying what I have noticed. The year in the metal world has been interesting to say the least with Metallica became the first band in history to perform concerts in Antarctica, the death of Slayer’s guitarist Jeff Hanneman, and the murder for hire trail of As I Lay Dying’s Tim Lambesis. I do enjoy metal music at times to get some intension and to get into that state of mind. However, I haven’t listen to much around this time and because of that, there was no metal songs in my top songs countdown. You can count God is Dead? as a metal song, but other than that there was none. It’s because I didn’t listen to the metal songs enough and outside of the metal radio to further its momentum since I got a new mindset of enjoying songs a lot and analyze it too. Here’s the metal songs I like from 2013.
20 Secular Haze Ghost B.C.
19 Burn With Me Amaranthe
18 Long Live The Misanthrope Soilwork
17 Halo Of Blood Children Of Bodom
16 Pitch Black Meshuggah
15 Mesmerized by Fire Enforcer
14 Deceiver Of The Gods Amon Amarth
13 Lethean Katatonia
12 Put It To The Torch Hatebreed
11 Torn Apart Valient Thorr
10 Shadow of Eternal Sin Thy Art Is Murder
9 Elevate Kataklysm
8 Rise Above The Sentiment Soilwork
7 Vigil Lamb of God
6 Super Collider Megadeth
5 Room 24 Volbeat/King Diamond
4 Conflict Phil Anselmo and The Illegals
3 Honor Never Dies Hatebreed
2 Prancer Dillinger Escape Plan
1 Prophets Of War Generation Kill
And that’s all the heavy dose one can take. If I would hear more of the top 2, then both of them would have made the top songs countdown. Oh, well maybe it will be different in 2014.

Top 55 Hip-Hop Songs of 2013
Feedback Section:
Brandon-You like Megadeth? NIce.
jose168-I'm also out of touch of metal, but I heard enough to still make a countdown. You got some good taste with VW, KE, Hail to the King. Glad that the alt.rock is ur fav out of the ones posted here so far. I should listen to more of Mona. Goons is such a nice song to listen to and liked their sound. So exciting. Nice to hear ur feedback.
Hip-hop has falling into the pits along with other genres of music. You have to go deep to find some good sh!t and pass the rest as decent enough since the standards are low. These days, it seems that the meaning and story elements in hip-hop are gone and go straight to saying some sh!t. Plus it gets tiring when most of the mainstream hip-hop are just random sh!t, cars, talking about how rich you are, the latest It drug (ex. Molly), getting f**ked, drinking, partying or whatever shoe brand you are wearing. It gets boring. It is not even just about the lyrical content or lack of meaningful songs, the production of some are just awful even on the first seconds into the song. I like fun songs , but that fun song production must turn me on, not give me such a migraine. Still, there are great rappers and hip-hop artists that are top of their game and show no signs of slowing down whether it’s an up and comer or an established veteran. Here’s all the good hardcore, urban, mainstream, and rhythmic hip-hop songs that I can find and actually liked.

5 F**kin' Problems A$AP Rocky ft. 2Chainz, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar
4 Unorthodox Joey BADA$$
3 Power Trip J. Cole ft. Miguel
2 Control Kendrick Lamar
1 Rap God Eminem
You should noticed that there are a lot of artists that appear so many times on the countdown. Say what you want about that. Anyway, the top rapper in the game is the rap god himself Eminem. K Dot came close, but no shame to losing to Em right? Since he is one of the five rappers Lamar mentions that he believes are the greatest rappers of all time and his favorites.

Top 25 R&B Songs of 2013
Feedback Section:
R&B may be dead, but the afterlife has made some nice and lively tunes. R&B may not be in the mainstream or even have its own mainstream for that matter, but still they have a candle in the darkness that still burns and yearns to be heard. Here’s all the adult R&B, regular R&B, and rhythmic R&B songs that I like.
25 Cocoa Butter India.Aire
24 Best Of Me Anthony Hamlton
23 Without Me Fantasia ft. Kelly Rowland and Missy Elliott
22 Over Here PARTYNEXTDOOR ft. Drake
21 Own It Mack Wilds
20 They Don't Know Rico Love
19 Lose To Win Fantasia
18 You & I Avant ft. KeKe Wyatt
17 Never Should Have Ashanti
16 4 the Rest of My Life Robin Thicke
15 Made to Love John Legend
14 Live For The Weeknd ft. Drake
13 Primetime Janelle Monáe ft. Miguel
12 How Many Drinks? (Remix) Miguel ft. Kendrick Lamar
11 Brand New Me Alicia Keys
10 Hurt You Toni Braxton & Babyface
9 Fire We Make Alicia Keys & Maxwell
8 Somebody Else Mario ft. Nicki Minaj
7 V.S.O.P K. Michelle
6 Do You… Miguel
5 The One Tamar Braxton
4 Hold On We’re Going Home Drake ft. Majid Jordan
3 Dirty Laundry Kelly Rowland
2 Body Party Ciara
1 Love and War Tamar Braxton
So much is going on in the top 5 and the one that wins this love and war is Tamar! I did enjoy the body party a lot as well.

Yes! I was hoping you would continue with your chart
17/25
I wasn't a big fan of R&B music in the past but last year I liked some songs from that genre, from your list my favorite is "Brand New Me" and also "Body Party" was my jam, "Love And War" is a nice song too.
