"Chris Brown, Maroon 5 set for high ticket demand" Forbes
Quote:
It’s not often that a massive concert tour kicks off in the back end of winter, but Chris Brown and Maroon 5 are taking that route when they begin their respective tours this month. Hitting the road in a post-Grammy, tour-barren world will have its perks, too, as both pop artists own two of the most expensive tickets on the secondary market in 2015.
No amount of community service can keep Chris Brown from touring, whose recent completion of a 1,000-hour tenure has allowed the Between the Sheets Tour to begin at the BB&T Center in Sunrise on Thursday night. The 25-year-old will play 25 dates through March alongside Trey Songz and Tyga and demand is high to see the singer live in-concert. The average price for Chris Brown tickets on TiqIQ is $249.49. Brown’s frequent run-ins with the law haven’t hurt ticket sales; only a handful of artists – including Taylor Swift, Fleetwood Mac and Maroon 5 – own higher tour averages on the secondary market this year.
Brown will play his most expensive show of the tour at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on March 7. Secondary market tickets to that show have an average price of $522.69, marking a premium of 109% over the tour average. The get-in price for the Vegas show is $172. It’ll be a rewarding winter for Brown, Songz and Tyga, as five of the 25 shows on the Between the Sheets Tour average above $300 on the secondary market.
The success of Maroon 5’s latest studio release, V, has generated the highest ticket price among all major tours this year. The eponymously named tour will hit the American Airlines Center in Dallas on February 16, beginning a 30-date North American leg that wraps in their native Los Angeles in April. Maroon 5 tickets have an average price of $312.39 on the secondary market, which is now more expensive than Fleetwood Mac’s once-leading tour average of $307.07.
Maroon 5’s top-priced show will be at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on February 27. The average secondary price for tickets is $790.54, which is 153% above the tour average. Much like the Between the Sheets Tour, the V Tour will see exorbitant ticket prices in several cities. Seven of the band’s upcoming 30 shows own an average price above $400 on TiqIQ.
The large secondary ticket prices that Chris Brown and Maroon 5 have garnered for their late winter run of shows is not just from their own popularity, but also likely due to mainstream music’s lack of tours in the coming months. Other top-priced artists like U2, One Direction and Meghan Trainor won’t play the U.S. and Canada until the summer, which has put more attention on Brown and Adam Levine and co.
Among other top acts hitting the road this month are pop princesses Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor, who have also taken advantage of the dry touring lineup this winter. Both Grande and Trainor are set to embark on their first-ever headlining tours this month, and each has gotten more exposure due to bigger acts starting their tours in the summer. Ariana Grande tickets average at $171.23 while Meghan Trainor averages a $131 on the secondary market.
From Chris Brown to Meghan Trainor, many of music’s most established and up-and-coming acts are proving that late winter tours, though unusual, are lucrative.
We all know the real tea. Chris' tour is flopping. A majority of the tickets sold were purchased by scalpers/resellers who thought they could successfully resell on the secondary market.
Maroon 5 will have a healthy gross, but their profit margins are off. Next year they'll go back to booking amphitheaters/smaller arenas when they're not in major cities.

Lol those pics you saw were taking during Tyga's set. The tour is doing pretty well.
ATRL always doing thw most when it comes to Chris smh
Neither of whom have ever headlined anything bigger than a theater? Trey Songz last tour was in ballrooms and halls. Please stop.
Girl 100% bye Trey Songz is just as big as Chris Brown & he's also much less polarizing. Their last 2 albums sold similarly. Also Chris is not even playing big places, he's coming to this small ass arena where I'm from and the fact that he needs 2 other artist to help him fill it up. Also his last tour, the Fame tour was in Ampitheaters FOUR YEARS AGO so idk what you're point is.
But anyway, how did you as a black woman feel about this song/video? Is this really the guy you wanna defend to?

Also, his last tour was the Carpe Diem tour. And even the FAME tour he still played NUMEROUS arenas. And even still an Ampitheatere is not the same as an actual theater/ballroom even IF that were the case
The last time I saw Trey it was all the Highline Ballroom. The last time I've seen Chris was at Madison Square Garden (the actual arena, not the MSG Theater where Trey performs).
