When people now visit YouTube,
they will encounter an unsolicited full video advertisement for Lady Gaga's "G.U.Y." The "G.U.Y. ad, which isn't intended as an actual play, because it appears as a commercial before the video people want to see,
will indeed be counted by Billboard towards G.U.Y’s chart position. This is payola for performance in its purest form. This is happening even when most people are not into it.
"This is how Gaga’s song “Dope,” a song nobody knows about, charted in the top ten last year–an add for the song was played before thousands of videos," states Ms. Cheng. "Billboard knew this, but still counted the views towards its chart position. There is more to come on this!"
Lady Gaga and her worshipers are fingering her VEVO/YouTube views for G.U.Y. to actually push the single onto the Billboard Top 40 charts, when it is not even playing at radio and the song is not even in the top 100 songs on iTunes.
