Boy Bands of the past (Nsync, BSB, NKOTB, etc) could actually dance and had better choreography. I noticed these guys The Wanted and One Direction lack any dancing ability. It would be nice to see at least one boy band with strong dancing ability.

1D is okay because theyre cute.

Because One Direction is a modern boy band that doesn't have to fit into the construct that the older boy bands made for themselves. Boy bands that have tried to come in and be NSYNC/BB/NKOTB clones have failed miserably. 1D do well for themselves because they are different.

They do fit in the old boy band mold. They were manufactured via X Factor, sing teen pop songs, dress flashy, and have a clean cut image. They are just like a boy band nothing is different about them.

JLS can dance.

America is already trying their hardest by letting boybands come back (even if it's from the UK). Add cliché dancing sequences a la N Sync and you will put off all that radio airplay they're enjoying.

Besides if you think about it One Direction fits more the Pop-Rock mold, as in Jonas Brothers (without playing any instruments) or Take That.

Imo, they don't need to dance if they perform well live.

Both groups do so I don't see the point.

Besides they put on some decent vocals. I'm not here for crappy vocals + dance sequences. Very few people can pull it off. There's a reason that the ones that do become legends in the long run.

Boy bands come in cycles, they would've made it big regardless of dancing ability. They came at the perfect time. So America isn't going to turn their back on them because of dancing, Justin Beiber targets the same market and he atleast tries at dancing. Radio hasn't shunned him yet.

Korean boy bands can dance their asses off, check out SHINee if you want to see what I mean.

Exactly! Why try and do both then have ****** vocals. Vocals are all that matter to me.

Not to mention they both play instruments as well so it'd be too much anyways.

The Beatles didn't dance. 1Direction following in their footsteps I think Louis will be the john Lennon of the group

X Factor really doesn't have anything to do with it.

Singing teen pop songs, having a stylist and maintaining a good image for PR aren't just boy band traits - those are traits that any pop star needs. They aren't out doing choreographed routines on an abandoned street in the rain like you would expect of a boy band. They really are just 5 guys with individual personalties who harmonize and sing songs together. That's all they need and all they try to be.

That's a bit much don't you think?

It's probably too cheesy these days. Only solo artists can still dance without looking silly.
