If you weren't Gay, do you think you would be Homophobic?
Let's just say that had you been born in the same environment, grew up with the same friends you did in your early childhood and experience the same influences you have in your life, except the difference is you are straight, do you think you would be a much more negative person based on those circumstances?
For example, you could have hung out with friends when you were 7-10 before you realized you were Gay and they were using homophobic slurrs, that may have rubbed off on you if you were straight.
Another example is being born in a heavily religious family, where being Gay is frowned upon, if you weren't Gay, do you think that influence would have rubbed off on you.
No, I have 2 gay uncles, a gay aunt and a gay sister + my mom is very tolerant. I remember when my we would stupidly laugh at someone's difference she would smack us in the head. So, I don't think so.
That'd be like saying, "If you weren't black, would you be racist towards black people?"... I'm not black and I'm not racist, so I doubt if I was straight I'd be homophobic.
