Which one would you rather have?

#1 single. There's tons of nobodies that have #1 albums, its a lot harder to get that kind of success with a single.

single. it's harder to get a #1 single. you have more chance of going #1 if you release an album these months.

Lots of nobodies have #1 singles now thanks to streaming and even before then. I would want a #1 album with logevity though.

Granted, there a few irrelevant artists like Baauer that get number ones but in general they give you a good reputation

Not really.
A #1 single has to be a hit song, a #1 album doesn't have to be a hit album.

Considering albums are hitting #1 with 30K sales now, I'd rather have a 300K-selling #1 single.
