No, Adele is. Plain and simple. 21 alone outsold entire discographies. And let's not act like she's a one album wonder because 19 was successful too and 21 only capitalized on that.

And the only reason why her touring numbers aren't massive is because she doesn't like doing arenas. She could easily have $100 million + tours if she wanted to at this point (and probably will in the future as doing a ton of small gigs won't be good for her voice).

EDIT: And Adele is a popstar, she just approaches it differently but her music is still pop.

In overall I don't think ADELE has outdone GaGa tbh, in my opinion she needs a bit more time to prove if she will remain one of the biggest pop girls.

Good Girl Gone Bad was as successful as The Fame. Loud was as successful as Born This Way Rihanna has never done as many dates as Gaga so the grosses are lower but her latest tour is totally sold out and she's doing stadiums all over the world.

Rihanna is very successful, there is no denying. Just in the short time that Gaga has been around she has been even more successful. So my vote is yes.

The fact she took a 2 year break before 21 came out, especially when the industry changed so much during that time, and still managed to come back and make as much noise as she did (even before 21 blew up) says alot about her IMO.

Her appeal is her music and as long as she puts out good music, she'll always have a successful career. Will she ever reach 21 status again? No, but noone will reach that level again tbh. Not with how low sales are.

Plus the problem with people who compare her to Norah Jones, etc is the fact that Adele is also a big single seller as well and that will help her in the long run.

She'll probably be on Eminem status tbh. Takes a few years off but as soon as he/she returns, they're right back on top.
