THE OFFICIAL WENDY WILLIAMS ATRL BASE
Quote:
Mother, wife, media mogul, entrepreneur, performer and best-selling author, Wendy Williams is best known for her long-running Daytime Emmy® nominated talk show, “The Wendy Williams Show.” The nationally syndicated weekday program airs in 52 countries, on BET at midnight, and will launch its seventh season on September 14th 2015.
Taped live from studios in New York City, “The Wendy Williams Show” is a reflection of Williams’ entertaining personality and distinctive sense of humor. It has become the must-see talk show in daytime! The focus on entertainment and pop culture exemplifies Williams’ passion for those topics. The shows signature segments include Hot Topics, which feature Wendy’s own “Say It Like You Mean It” take on the juiciest celebrity headlines, and Ask Wendy where she offers real advice to audience members looking for answers.
The show also includes a diverse mix of interviews with celebrity guests from television, film, music, and sports. Renewed through 2017, it is the only syndicated talk show this season to have achieved year-to-year national growth in W25-54 ratings. In 2015, both Williams and the show earned Daytime Emmy® nominations for “Best Talk Show Host” and “Best Entertainment Talk Show.” Williams is also the only daytime talk show host to have items from the show inducted into the Smithsonian Institute.
Prior to achieving success in daytime television, Williams built a devoted fan base throughout a successful 23-year career in radio. “The Wendy Williams Experience” was Williams’ top-rated, daily radio show. Syndicated nationally, it aired on WBLS in New York and was listened to by an audience of more than 12 million people. One of the most popular personalities in radio, she was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in November of 2009 – one of only a handful of women with that honor.
Williams continues to grow her brand with her keen eye and sense of style. This year, working exclusively with HSN, Williams launched her own clothing collection, “Wendy Williams”. From apparel that will take you from weekday to weekend, the designs are vibrant, classic, figure flattering and versatile for every occasion. She created this collection so that women of all ages and sizes can wear it.
Also new to Williams’ repertoire is her one-woman comedy show. This summer marks the beginning of her “Sit Down Tour”—Too Real for Stand Up. Williams will visit cities across the country and share straight talk as only she can.
In Spring 2014, Williams released her seventh book and first romance novel, “Hold Me In Contempt” (Harper Collins). It became a New York Times Best Seller the first day of its’ release.
Expanding her media footprint, Williams and her husband Kevin launched the non-fiction television programming company, Wendy Williams Productions (WWP) in 2013. Recent projects include, the Lifetime original movie, “Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B” and the newly green lit series, “Death By Gossip with Wendy Williams” that will premiere in the fall of 2015 on Investigation Discovery.
With TV, Broadway and film performances to her name, Williams is a seasoned performer, both as herself and in character. Her television credits include appearances on NBC’s “30 Rock” as herself, competing on Season 12 of ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars,” hosting Game Show Network’s original series “Love Triangle,” and appearing as a featured guest on ABC’s “One Life to Live” and Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva.” Wendy also appeared in the major motion picture, Steve Harvey’s “Think Like A Man,” “Think Like A Man Too” and took center stage as Mama Morton in the Tony-winning revival of the musical “Chicago.”
