I did this simply, by looking at the Top Artists by Year and getting the highest rapper every year. Rap always changes trends quickly; so I wanted to see who was hottest throughout the years. This is for U.S., but Rap is basically local so this probably applies WW too.

1995: The Notorious B.I.G.
1996: LL Cool J
1997: Puff Daddy
1998: Will Smith
1999: Lauryn Hill
2000: Eminem
2001: Nelly
2002: Nelly
2003: 50 Cent

2005: 50 Cent

2010: Eminem
2011: Lil Wayne

2013: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
- Nelly, T.I., Eminem, and 50 Cent only people to be #1 twice. (Nelly only one 2 years consecutive)
- Salt-N-Pepa & Lauryn Hill only females ever to be #1.
- Eminem, and Macklemore only non-blacks ever to be #1.
