Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!
Luckily I'm feeling rather exuberant at the moment so I'm making this regardless of how badly it'll flop!
Well, let me start off by saying that this probably has been my best year in terms of music. I've discovered a lot of old and new artists I never would have dreamed I would enjoy listening to, while some of my favourites have released new music that has in no way disappointed me. The diversity, the creativity, the originality - it's been an incredible year for me, and I wouldn't change it at all.
Anyway, enough soppy crap - let's get down to the countdowns! (Just a little Katy-level rhyming there for you  ). The schedule is as follows (subject to change):
 1. My Top 10 Discoveries of 2012
This countdown focuses on artists whose careers started before 2012, with me having 'discovered' them with an album released before 2012. These albums range from the 80s to last year, so it has a very wide spread, but that's pretty much all in terms of rules for this countdown. Personally, this is one of my favourites. 
2. My Top 10 Movies of 2012
This is fairly straightforward; if the movie was released in 2012 for its initial release, then it qualifies. This does not include movies that were released pre-2012 and re-released in 2012 for whatever reason, so Titanic and The Phantom Menace won't be making appearances. 
3. My Top 25 Songs of 2012
Now my top songs of the year is pretty flexible. For all intents and purposes, to keep it fair I decided to limit it to 1 song per artist - a decision I don't regret. If I hadn't, my countdown would have been the track listings of my top 3 albums of the year rearranged. Album tracks, promotional singles and official singles are all allowed, with the only other rule being that the song must have been released in 2012 on its album, meaning that albums released in 2011 with single releases in 2012 are ineligible for this countdown. I mean, come on - it's not a best of 2012 if it was released outside 2012 now, is it? 
4. My Top 10 Albums of 2012
This is perhaps tied with my first countdown for favourite, despite me currently only having 8 albums for this list. That's the main reason I left it till last, so I have time to listen to and add more albums (Ke$ha's fighting her way in right now). The only rule for this is that re-releases are forbidden - only albums released in 2012 are worthy.
Now I'm aiming to keep to the schedule of spending ~10 days on each of the Top 10's and ~12 days on the Top Songs (excluding Christmas), but that could change.
I think that's everything covered..?
