“But the point I’m trying to make is it’s definitely – and people are probably going to go bad on me for saying this – but it’s an advantage to be gay in this country right now. That’s just the fact of the matter. Frank Ocean is very dope. Very very dope artist. He got pushed to the moon when he dropped his album though. He got the Grammy and everything. There’s about 30 artists in the country that sold about how much he did or more – they didn’t get any of that.”

The remarks are similar to those made recently by Kanye West, who suggested that he was discriminated against in the fashion industry for not being gay.

He didn't lie. Frank's music is mediocre and his performance at the Grammys was terrible. He only made waves when he came out and hasn't been doing much since.

To a certain degree he's right. Frank become the most searched person on google after coming out. It definently helped his career.

People are gonna just attack wale though and scuff over everything else he said.

Maybe you can make an argument for what he said about Frank (although I disagree) but saying it's an advantage to be gay in America is indefensible.

That's a lie, he was garnering huge attention for his music ever since his EP, for an artist who had no hits on the charts he had everyone raving about his music. He won a Grammy for the quality of his music not his sexuality, and people like you and Wale perpetuate the same type of ignorant rhetoric that being a minority actually is advantageous when it NEVER is.

That's not really what he was saying, but whatever. I do think gay people have an advantage in certain aspects of the industry. Not so much in hip-hop tho.
