Are there any big divas of the past that you had no idea about until you joined ATRL/the stan world in general?

I had no idea who Celine Dion was before I joined. Like it was a complete suprise to me that this random chick had sold almost as much as Madonna. I vaugely knew MHWGO but I wouldn't have been able to tell you who sings it. I still don't know any other Celine songs

I knew who Mariah Carey was but only because of WBT. I didn't realize she wasn't from the Brit/Bey/X generation or that she was in the top 3 best selling females of all time.

I think I kinda knew the name Janet Jackson but didn't really know who she was or what she did aside being a relative of MJ. If you had told me she was the girl who JT exposed at the SB I would have been like "ooohh her" but apart from that, I didn't know she was a thing.

I honestly had no idea who Cher was until Cher Lloyd went on the X-factor and they asked her if she was named after Cher the singer and so I looked her up that wasn't long before I joined ATRL.

I remember thinking that Madonna was on top and Diana Ross was a really close second or they were kind of equal I think it's cause my parents stan Diana Ross. I definitely knew who Whitney was and I think I knew she was a pretty big deal in her day. I would bop to Tina Turner and knew she was big but I still don't really know much about her Career/impact.

I didn't know Janet Jackson was so huge (in the USA) before I joined ATRL, but I knew who she was (of course).

Mariah Carey is not from Bey/X/Brit generation THis thread will get messy sis....

I found out about Cher because of an episode of The Nanny.

I knew Céline because she's huge in my country and of course MHWGO but I had no idea she was a Queen in the US until like 3 yrs ago.

Janet Jackson. I knew who she was though. I could name two or three songs and that hasn't changed in 5 years.

Also, Patti Labelle and those kind of artists, the woman from American Idol that has one or two songs I've heard before but never heard her name nor can I recall it as of now. Random celebs include: Tony Bennett, Ellen DeGeneres, Perez Hilton.

Pretty much most people that Americans on here talk about and assume the rest of us know who they're talking about.

Edit: Wendy Williams. I remember I got warned for genuinely asking who she was.. insane, I know

Janet too but I knew she was Michael's sister.
Others would be Patti, Diana Ross, Kylie, Aretha
