Arcade Fire’s “Reflektor” (Universal) debuts at number one on the Top Albums chart with 49,000 units sold. It is their third straight chart-topping album and is easily their biggest one week sales total to date, topping the 31,000 units sold in the first week of release of their last album, 2010’s “The Suburbs.” It is also the second biggest one week sales total for any release this year, only surpassed by another Canadian artist, Drake, who sold 50,000 units in the last week of September.
Blue Rodeo’s “In Our Nature” (Warner) enters at No. 2 on the Top Albums chart with 12,000 units sold. It is the band’s highest charting album and best first week sales total in the SoundScan era. Their last release, 2009’s “The Things We Left Behind,” reached No. 6.
Kelly Clarkson’s “Wrapped In Red” (Sony) comes in at No. 6 with 5,200 units sold. The holiday album is her fifth release to debut in the top ten. Protest The Hero’s “Volition” (Sony) lands at No. 7 just behind Clarkson’s sales total, their third straight top ten debut.
Eminem’s “The Monster” (Universal), Feat. Rihanna, debuts at number one on both the Billboard
Canadian Hot 100 and Digital Songs charts. It is his fourth chart-topper on the Canadian Hot 100 and
first since the two stars collaborated on “Love The Way You Lie,” which spent seven weeks at No. 1 beginning in July 2010. With 54,000 downloads sold of “The Monster,” it is his Eminem’s highest one week download total, surpassing the 50,000 total downloads sold in the debut week for “Berzerk” in the last week of August. It is the fifth highest one week total for any song to date and third highest for a song in its first week of release. Three other Eminem songs from his new album, out this week, are in the top 15 on the Canadian Hot 100, including “Survival,” which scores Greatest Gainer/Digital honours, vaulting 50-14.
