NEW YORK -- Live Nation executive chairman Irving Azoff has been appointed to the board of directors of radio giant Clear Channel.
He replaces Kent Weldon who resigned from his board post on Monday, according to a regulatory filing.
Azoff, 62, is the former CEO of Ticketmaster and also the personal manager of the Eagles, Christina Aguilera, Neil Diamond, Van Halen and Steely Dan.
IAC CEO Barry Diller earlier this week said he would resign as chairman of Live Nation amid disagreements among board members, including Azoff.
Earlier on Friday, Azoff said that he feels that the different parts of the merged Live Nation have come together well, but that Diller had always said he would serve as chairman only for a while.
Clear Channel runs all AM, FM and Satellite radio stations. In other words, he now has the biggest say in radio.

Considering that "3" just barely scraped by the 2M mark by the skin of its teeth, and none of her singles have gone 4X platinum on iTunes, we'll see.
And the last one was a fluke, b/c it was a modest performer on iTunes, and didn't even hit #1 on pop.

I wish the song success, of course. But it's extremely strange to me that's it taking off now of all times. Nothing has come out of the Bionic era for months, but this week all of a sudden some stations start spinning it & it starts rapidly climbing up iTunes with no video or performance triggering the rapid rise.
RCA should release it now, because it might actually do well.
