Celeb News: Britney writing personal album; Darkchild one of producers

That Grape Juice just posted a brand new interview with Elijah Blake, who revealed more info about her upcoming album.

David: People won’t know this now, but they will when we put this out… you’re working on the new Britney album.
Elijah: Yeah.
David: Congratulations, that’s seriously epic. Being renown for your work with urban acts, how much of that sound can we expect to hear on the project?
Elijah: I think her fans will be surprised by it. I would say it's definitely the ‘unexpected’ Britney in so many ways, in that she’s playing with new textures, and stomping on new grounds and genres. It’s still shaping up, so I wouldn’t wanna say too much, but I do wanna offer up some new melodic rhythms and flow to the top line. From talking to her, she’s definitely trying to push the envelope this time and really talk from a more personal point of view, and with Rodney Jerkins by her side, I’m hella excited. You’re talking about Darkchild, the guy who changes music over and over again, and never runs out of ideas. This album is gonna be crazy! I write from a more cerebral place, I would say. My lyrics are more like a conversation or a thought process, I want people to hear my songs and think honesty... I’d love to share that with her as well. She’s so cool and down to earth, and she gives off so much confidence that writing with her is easy.

Considering Femme Fatale was apparently supposed to be some personal masterpiece, I'm not going to get excited until I hear the finished product.

Did someone from her team really say that? I just know about Femme Fatale having Rusko as its producer and it will be "grimy" We didn't have that because Jive wanted to milk Britney with her last album with them. It was all scrapped and put Dr. Luke all over.

I've seen the Britney stans say time and time again that Femme Fatale's signature sound was supposed to be similar to "He About to Lose Me" and "Criminal", and that Britney was forced into recording an upbeat pop record that she didn't want to make.

I only wanted songs that I immediately connected to. I also wanted to make sure that this album was completely different from Circus or anything else I had ever recorded. I love Circus but I wanted something darker and edgier. I also wanted to make an album and didn't want to just record a bunch of songs and put them together. I think Femme Fatale is really connected from start to finish.

It was going to be a dance album from the start.

It's Rusko not Diplo btw. Sorry for that.

The record I think was supposed to be with dark dubstep influences. Rusko is one of the best dubstep DJs around. The album started production in late 2009 but was then all scrapped and most of the album was re-recorded in late 2010. It really sucks. Femme Fatale is okay but it's not as strong as her 4 previous efforts.
