I remember both peaks and I think Britney's was bigger, Back in the day Britney was everything, everytime a music video by her dropped it was such an event. Both changed the game when they arrived though, that isn't a question.

I love them both but Britney has 5 albums over 500k 1st week, includingthe highest 1st week sales for a female artist. She has been able to withstand the testament of time.

Highest Grossing Tour "The Circus Tour"

I mean, each era had a high for her. I love Lady Gaga... but Britney takes the crown!

Lol Britney was EVERYWHERE!!!! Britney was like Royalty to GP! Gaga messed up her chances by being too controversial. Yes, Britney was controversial but she didn't attack religion and let's face it beauty does gives you something to fall back on. All gaga ever had was her music. She doesnt have beauty or killer dance moves. So yeah....

This. Also, OIDIA opened with 1.3 million and went on to sell over 10 million+ copies just in the US. Even if you factor in the decline of album sales over the years, Britney still comes out on top by a considerable margin.
