i feel like Katy Perry's "California Gurls" wouldn't be as successful if she didn't have that collaboration with Snoop Dogg within the song. But let's just see how well Teenage Dream does. It sounds like a beach night summer song. Katy''s timing is perfect. California Gurls is really purky and has a nice catchy tune to it, nothing too genuine about it though. Maybe that's a key to the success? But not in my opinion, i like Teenage Dream a lot better, and feel like it has a real feel to it. It will make it high on the Hot 100 but i don't think it'll reach the Top 5 mark. In my opinion Teenage Dream wins, and will be played a lot on radios obviously, according to the new record she just broke (added to 90 radio stations). Within a month which song do you think will have a better chart history, California Gurls or Teenage Dream?
I don't know if anything can beat the success of "California Gurls", but I could be wrong. "Teenage Dream" is an amazing song and I wouldn't mind if it surpasses the success of "California Gurls" in the future.

im pretty sure Teenage Dream won't beat it's success. But i'm a bigger fan of Teenage Dream. California Gurls is blagghh.. eaasily produced
Teenage Dream is a better song because;
- It didn't take time to grow on me unlike CG
- It doesn't sound like tik tok/it sounds original
- The music is simpler, showing off Katys fantastic vocals that little bit more.
- It sounds like a lead single, even though it isn't
- Snoop Dogg isn't in it.
I think that they're on different levels. Katy herself said that CG is supposed to be a mindless Pop song, while TD is supposed to be on a more serious note. I, personally, find CG more catchier, but TD more deep, so I can't say atm.
