(I obviously suck at graphics, so don't judge me too much )
Hi hos I'll be counting down my top 20 albums, top 10 EPs/mini-albums, and my top 100 songs of the year. Won't be counting anything from before 2014 unless it was released in a new version (remix, solo edit, etc.) This rule is mostly because my 2013 list was already obliterated by Beyoncé and I gotta give the other girls (and boys) a chance. The lists will probably be mostly K-Pop but there's also English, Japanese, Russian, Mandarin, and French songs/albums.
Schedule:
#20-11 albums - 12/29/14
#10-1 albums - 12/30/14
Top 10 EPs/Mini Albums: 12/31/14
Top 100 Songs: 10 a day starting from 1/01/15
Honorable mention to these albums that won't make the countdown:
I still get secondhand embarrassment from that SHINee cover; Jonghyun looks like my lesbian mom.

The Mockingjay soundtrack is really good! Really fits the movie.
I still need to check out "1989: jamming: and I liked "Ultraviolence" too, but BTD is still my fave album from her!

Definitely check out 1989! Honestly I didn't even like Taylor before this year but she's made me have a 180 on her, even like some of her older material now. Born To Die is still my fav Lana album too I was super disappointed with Ultraviolence at first but it's the epitome of a grower.

I hope you find something you like from them! I'm not sure if you're into K-Pop/J-Pop, but they're amazing albums so if you like any of the tracks I picked you should love the rest too. I think you'd really enjoy Earth Sick though!
asjkfa;slkfn wait sis your taste is flawlesss omg. We need to start talking more because I wanted to type all the releases here that I adore but it's literally 90% of them.
Let me just say I stan for both Me? and BABYMETAL though. I even saw BM back in July.

We should! Your taste is obviously perfect too I can't wait to see the rest of your countdowns!
Aah, I remember you saying that in their base thread awhile back! I never saw your reply about how it went until now though. I'm glad you had a great time! I'm so jealous The only acts that visit the city I live in atm are washed up country stars
#100. Spotless Mind - Jhené AikoShame on me for changing?
Shame on you for staying the same.
Perfect from the opening lines "Change is inevitable; why hold onto what you have to let go of?". While I do love her new album, this is the only song from it that compares to her mixtape material, or even her EP from last year. I hate saying that since it sounds a little pretentious i.e. "She was better before she got mainstream!", but really the album has nothing like Stranger, 3:16AM or My Mine. Speaking of pretentiousness, I can't stand the movie this song gets it's namesake from but I love its sister song (Eternal Sunshine) as well.
#99. Pretty When You CryAll those special times I spent with you, my love,
They don't mean **** compared to all your drugs.
Like most of Ultraviolence, I didn't like this at first. I thought she sounded unbearably whiny and weak, but it fits for the song. The album has grown on me exponentially though, and this has become one of my favorite tracks.
#98. More More - Ai OtsukaI guess you could say I'm self-centered
But I'm sure you can deal with it
If you wanna listen you should watch the full video (which has an adorable as **** concept too) here! What is the actual reason that Japanese artists (or is it just Avex?) never upload full videos to youtube? Anyway, I think most fans prefer Love Fantastic but this song is just so pure and gleeful, it makes me really happy whenever I listen to it
#97. Pulsing (feat. Nina K) - Tomas BarfodMy heart has never beaten louder
I can't believe that I doubted you...
Something about this is so The Knife, like if they went full on pop. Maybe I just think that because it has the same synth as one of their songs, but it's amazing anyway. I also kind of love the pseudo-artsy video. ~Edgy~ white couple with randomass shots of mutilated meat/fish
#96. Newton's Apple - NellI will burn for you, each and every part of me belongs to you
When you're in your darkest hour, I'll set them all on fire and guide you
I have such a love/hate relationship with this song. I love it because it's a real contender for my favorite song they've written, which says A LOT considering they're in my top 10 artists/groups ever. Just the purest declaration of love and devotion, like I'd want to dedicate this song to my future hubby. "I know that I'll be drawn right back to you; Like Newton's apple hit the ground, my gravity always leans toward you" is so simple yet so beautiful. Now to the hate part.... that ****ing autotune effect tries its best to ruin the song. I have no problem whatsoever with using autotune/vocoder/etc. to enhance a song, but this just takes away from how beautiful his voice is. Had they just let his voice be this would probably be in the top 10.
#95. Dead Air - CHVRCHESI will never believe what they say
There is a strength in enduring
Their best song, bless Lorde for this soundtrack. I love those airy synths and how delicate her voice sounds here.
#94. Android - Clazziquai ProjectMy heart is full of your memories
My brain is full of your desires
Clazzi is one of the best producers in Korea. I usually prefer their upbeat (example) material as opposed to more subdued songs like this, but this is my favorite from their latest album. I love the retro sound, and the samples they take from 50s movies add to that feel. I didn't know it got released as a single or got a video though! It's cute.
#93. Cry. - Mariah CareyOh my love, imprudently I left every cell in me
So naked, somewhere at the core of you
BITCH!!! This sounds straight out of Butterfly, oh my god. I didn't love this album as much as her stans did but this is a full return to form and exactly what I need from Mariah. The lyrics I chose to showcase are so effortlessly beautiful and poignant. Let me just replace The Beautiful Ones with this on my Butterfly tracklist and CRY.
#92. Bang X2 - B.A.PScream and don’t stop
Tonight, you’re a rock star
Ok, I know this has no right being as far up as I've put it But I actually love them doing this kind of sound When I was a kid I only listened to metal music because of my dad, then around 2005 I had a phase where I started listening to like Avril Lavigne/Linkin Park before transitioning to loving pop. This is a song that 8 year old me would have loved and thought was totally hardcore, so
#91. För alla namn vi inte fĺr använda - The Knife & Europa Europa
Um, ok...so....I couldn't find translated lyrics for this on Google. My best friend is Swedish but all I can remember that she's taught me how to say are cuss words, so I don't think my Swedish skills can help much. According to Google translate the name of this is "For all the names we are not allowed to use", and the description says "an anti-national cabaret about migration politics" so... sounds like typical The Knife social commentary lol. Anyway, as good as it is it's sad to think that this will be The Knife's last song now that they've "broken up", since they are my favorite artist(s) ever after Rihanna. Hopefully if they don't make a return eventually Karin will continue Fever Ray or work in another project.
That's it for now; next 10 tomorrow, quite a few big names (from both sides of the world) in the next batch!
