Hi guys, thought I should mention clearly on how my chart works.
I have been doing the Hot 25 charts since March 2006. The first No. 1 was Darren Hayes' "So Beautiful." Westlife and S Club 7 are the two groups that have the most No. 1 entries. They each have more No. 1's than any solo artist.
The methodology for the chart has been changed throughout the course of the years. The charts in 2006-2008 counted airplay only, via youtube, radio, mobile, and CD tracks. During this time, most No. 1 entries debut at No. 1 and dropped the following weeks. Thus there has been a No. 1 almost every week.
iTunes plays were introduced in late 2008 thus changed the methodology was digital only because it counted only iTunes plays. From 2008-2009, my PC experienced multiple crashes caused by virus and trojans that I often lost files/downloads of iTunes songs, and the chart reversed temporarily back to airplay only. After some time there was stability and the chart changed back to digital plays only via iTunes.
The Top 25 chart was introduced since 2007 to count plays 2-week period, to act concurrently along the Hot 25, which tracked plays 1-week period. Then in beginning in 2010 the methodology made a drastic change to use the 2-week tracking period for the Hot 25. The Top 25 now counts cumulatively. The Pop 20 was introduced off and on with successful runs but the Hot 25 remains as the main chart. The quintessential Hot 25 now still uses the 2-week tracking period. Also since the beginning of 2010, the methodology for Hot 25 tracks both airplay spins and digital plays.
Recently, streaming points have been added as third component for the Hot 25- started a few weeks ago. The streaming points still too are tracked in a 2-week period.
Thank you for reading this if you did.
Effective October 20, 2012: Hot 25 now becomes Hot 37 to correspond with the Top 40, which has been ongoing since the beginning of 2012.
