HDD: Frozen #1 for 5th week; longest run 4 ST since Titanic
CHART MURMUR: Disney's Frozen is set to rule the HITS Album Sales Chart again this week, while Nashvillians Eric Church and Cole Swindell will be among the other top-charting titles. As for the rest, keep your eyes on that chart as it builds. Numbers are fun! (2/24p)
The "Frozen" soundtrack is about to meet "Titanic" in the history books.
Industry sources forecast the "Frozen" album to sell around 85,000 copies in the tracking week ending on Sunday, February 23. That could be enough to secure the No. 1 slot on next week's Billboard 200 -- for the album's fifth nonconsecutive week atop the list.
The last soundtrack to rule for five weeks was the "Titanic" album in 1998, which spent 16 straight weeks at No. 1. It jumped from No. 11 to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart dated Jan. 24, 1998, and then reigned through the May 9 chart.
The new Billboard 200's top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, February 26.
Since Nielsen SoundScan began powering the Billboard 200 chart on May 25, 1991, only four soundtracks have spent at least five weeks at No. 1. "Titanic," "Waiting to Exhale" (five weeks in 1996), "The Lion King" (10 weeks in 1994 and 1995) and "The Bodyguard" (20 weeks in 1992 and 1993).
At the present, "Frozen" is one of five soundtracks to spend four weeks at No. 1 in the SoundScan era. The last soundtrack to net four weeks at No. 1 was "Bad Boys II" in 2003.

Yikes. I'm sure she'd have gotten a solid 40k if the pre-order debacle didn't happen.
We've officially hit a point in time where recent The Voice-winners are outselling recent Idol-winners though.
One fluke doesn't make it a fact, though. She easily would have outsold every Voice winner without the pre-order debacle. Not to mention, she had to wait almost a year whereas Danielle released like 5 months after winning.
The original album release date was sometime in October. They moved Candice's album to February, but forgot update her album release date. Because of that, in October, the people who pre-ordered her album got a blank album from her. I remember the album being at #3 before they took it down to fix the problem.
But if everyone was refunded...wouldn't they now want to buy it as they couldn't buy it before?
I mean, if they love her enough to pre-order it, it stands to reason they wouldn't give up on buying it just cuz of a refund snafu.
The difference is that those pre-orders came right after her win. Candice had barely any buzz in October, so a lot of people that pre-ordered it the first time didn't pre-order it again.
It's such a flawless album.
