Thursday night, My Chemical Romance played a sold out show at Arrow Hall just outside Toronto. The openers were Thrice & Circa Survive.
First, the crowd. Surprisingly quite a handful of younger people, lots of parent escorts. I actually felt a bit old. However, a lot of them stayed further back and the older people in the crowd were up front. The pit was pretty rough, although a lot of girls so it was hard to get violent, lol.
Openers. Circa Survive played for about 30 minutes and we're alright. I can't see these guys doing very much in the future, but Gerard and the boys from MCR seem to love them.
THRICE. on the other hand, was frigging awesome. They played the majority of their new album and a good chunk of some of their older stuff for a solid, roaring 45 minute set. They got the crowd especially on their feet, a surprisingly high ratio of the crowd was probably more support for Thrice than MCR. 'Image Of The Invisible' and 'Red Sky' were huge highlights.
And of course, MCR. So much better than at Warped Tour where they only played 6 songs, here it was 75 minutes straight out of New Jersey rock and all the hits were there, all album cuts from both their cd's, and they even played a new song called 'Disenchanted', which could be the bands 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' if and when it gets released.
This cross Canadian tour is serving as their farewell to the platinum 'Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge'. They ended it with a bang. Gerard sounded amazing live, and the band was right on target. Well done!
