Backstory: You and the members of a revolutionary movement assemble at a remote location the night before you carry out a critical mission for your cause. When a comrade is found dead, it’s clear that there’s a traitor who threatens your coup. You and your allies must eliminate him here, lest he leave with your group from the meeting and sabotage your entire organization.
Roles
The players have two affiliations: the Resistance and the Traitor. Among the players, one player is a traitor.
Traitor: At the end of each game phase, the traitor can choose to eliminate one player from the game. The traitor wins if he is still in the game when it ends.
The Resistance: Your goal is to make it to the end of the game. Their only tool to fight the traitor is by voting to eliminate a player at the end of every round. Majority vote wins. During any round, the players may also vote to end the game. If a majority votes to end the game and the traitor is not in the game when the game ends, all living Resistance members win.
The game ends upon either a vote to conclude the game, or the elimination of all but two players.
Additional Info
Tells: Every player is assigned with a “forbidden action” (Or tell), which they must obey in the thread during the course of the game. Failing to adhere to your forbidden action results in an instant elimination. They range from being tics and compulsions, all the way to being handicaps or goals in the game.
At any point in the game, a player can “reveal” a player’s forbidden action by stating their name and “tell”. If correctly matched, the stated player is eliminated. Tells can be shared in private without consequence.
Random Missions: At random points of the game during any round, players will break from discussing the traitor’s identity via posts in the thread, and instead try to weed them out via minigames. The games will focus on team-based puzzles and competitions, with winning teams and players getting secret info and perks, and losing teams and players possibly getting punishments. By observing how players act during these minigames, the traitor’s identity may become clearer than through regular posts.
