Avril pulled at my heartstrings with what can only be described as a heartbreak anthem. Whether you're contemplating a break-up, or remembering a past love, this song demonstrates Avril's true songwriting potential, and, hopefully, her future as an artist.

"Her love is like a drug / I was tryna hit it and quit it / But lil' mama so dope / I messed around and got addicted / So you wanna play with magic / Boy, you should know what you're falling for / Baby do you dare to do this? / Cause I’m coming at you like a dark horse"

This song demonstrates the true slayage that Katy Perry is capable of. A true continuation of her Teenage Dream era, Dark Horse is the follow-up many fans were waiting for: undeniably catchy lyrics, the perfect trap-pop beat to match, and a stellar rap verse by Juicy J. Unfortunately mishandled by Katy's team, but strong enough to place as my #99 song of 2013. Will Dark Horse make it to my Top 100 of 2014 as well?

"Losing him was blue like I'd never known / Missing him was dark grey all alone / Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met / But loving him was red"

As expected, Taylor Swift serves perfection. Taylor manages to perfectly convey emotions through her lyrical use of colors; her songwriting is undeniable and the imagery she manages to convey makes you feel, well, that falling in love is truly red.

"I love bad bitches, that's my ****ing problem / And yeah I like to ****, I got a ****ing problem / If finding somebody real is your ****ing problem / Bring ya girls to the crib maybe we can solve it"

In a transition from Taylor Swift that makes perfect sense, A$AP slays me in a way I didn't know was possible. Even as a predominant fan of female pop-rap music, it's difficult to deny the catchiness of the hook mixed with the song's instrumental. Each rapper's flow is fantastic, and I even bought this song on iTunes.

"May our hearts be full like our drinks tonight / May we sing and dance 'til we lose our minds / We are only young if we seize the night / Tonight we own the night / Tonight we own the night"

This song makes me feel like I'm spending the night in Europe. The music video probably adds to this feeling, which takes place in a bar/pub, but it is a truly anthemic song to listen to before a night out with your friends. Not sure why The Wanted slay me when they're flopping everywhere else, but the chorus is inspired to say the least.
