She probably has a policy where they're not allowed to talk about Cheryl in interviews, hence the surprise
I think she was looking towards her manager, like those Britney interviews.
I'm a fan of both but Cheryl has been so rude to Nicole that it was about time Nicole stopped saying nice things about her and gave us moments like this

I haven't paid attention to either in a very long time. What was Cheryl doing to Nicole?

2012: From her ghost written autobiography, published in The Sun:
Quote:
"'Oh my God, Cheryl! You're just as pretty in real life! I heard your song on the radio!' she had gushed. It was really embarrassing.
"Then she started singing 'Promise This' to me, and I swear to God the woman sang the whole song, to my face. It was just so awkward, and every time I stood next to her she started singing it again."
She continued: "I thought how that would be like me going up to Britney and singing the whole of 'Baby, One More Time' in her face. Can you imagine how weird that would be?

"Nicole was singing and dancing to her own songs, and I found that a bit crazy and odd," she said.

Nicole's response to Cheryl's book
Quote:
Not impressed with the way Cheryl remembers their encounter Scherzinger, 34, blasted Cole making her look bad. She explained that she had seen the quotes and felt the whole thing was 'silly.' Nicole told the publication: 'I’d like to give her the benefit of the doubt and hope that she would only have spoken highly of me because I’ve not spoken poorly of her.'
However upset at the fact Cheryl had failed to speak well of her, Nicole went on to explain what really happened.
Snapping back, the Don't Cha singer said: 'No. No. The story is I met her once at The X Factor and I wanted to make her feel good. I said I’d heard her song on the radio and I think I sang the words "promise this". But I really don’t know any lyrics after that.
Cheryl has always been jealous of Nicole. Back when she was a background singer in Girls Aloud, Nicole was the lead singer of the biggest girl group on the planet at the time.
Then things got worse when Nicole replaced her on X Factor USA, then came on the UK version of the X Factor and got huge popularity and a successful solo album launch in the UK.
Nicole usually stays silent, but it's about time she shut her down.

1. Cheryl wasn't a background singer.
2. Nicole was never 'hugely popular', her biggest selling album being gold (100k), 10% of Cheryl's million-seller.

But what would Cheryl have to be jealous about? Not having as many shelved projects as Nicole? The ability to carve a solo career?

Nicole fronted PCD and sang 98% of every album. Cheryl's odd line here and there is hardly a comparison.
I think the extra 50 million records Nicole sold as part of PCD make it obvious why Cheryl has remained jealous all these years. Not to mention, y'know...her ability to sing live.
