Jessie J: "The US celebrates me as one of the greatest"
Quote:
Jessie J is upset that while she is celebrated in the US as one of the greatest singers, she doesn't have that same reputation in her native UK.
The singer was asked by Women's Health about never being asked to perform at the Brit Awards, where she has only been nominated for British Female Solo Artist twice - in 2012 and 2014.
"It makes me sad," Jessie J said.
"I've done the Grammys, the VMAs... my profile in America is that I'm kind of celebrated as one of the greatest singers and I love it."
Even if she does have one of the greatest voices as some of you are pointing out, she certainly isn't considered to be one of them in America. She gives me so much secondhand embarrassment
Jessie was kinda like Tori Kelly in 2014, she was given decent promo and buzz but she never really clicked with the GP. The only difference is Jessie had a song with a hot right now artists (Ariana) and with a hot right now sounds (horn filled pop songs) and was able to score one singular hit.
She had the Pitch Perfect soundtrack, the Grease Live Song, tons of promo (Grammys, AMAs, VMAs, Voice Finale ) etc but she hasn't really happened so I would disagree that she's "celebrated" here. Just like Tori, it sucks because they have underrated voices.
