Billboard: 25 sold 3.38 million first week.
Adele's '25' Official First Week U.S. Sales: 3.38 Million
Quote:
It’s official: Adele’s 25 album sold 3.38 million copies in its first week in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music. That’s the largest single sales week for an album since Nielsen began tracking point-of-sale music purchases in 1991. 25 is the first album to sell more than 3 million copies in a week in Nielsen history, and only the second to surpass 2 million sold in a single frame.
25 will debut atop the Billboard 200 albums chart dated Dec. 12, marking the singer/songwriter’s second No. 1. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the chart is scheduled to be announced on Nov. 29, along with 25’s total consumption figure for the week.

Adele's '25' Sales Up to 2.8 Million in U.S., Headed for 3 Million Debut Week
Quote:
After processing initial sales reports through Nov. 24, the set has sold at least 2.8 million copies in the U.S.
Further, of the figure, 1.45 million are digital albums — by far a record haul for a digital set.

Adele's '25' Is 42 Percent of Total Music Sales This Week
Quote:
Another way to compare today's apples to yesterday's oranges is by adjusting for "inflation." Everything from food prices to movie revenues are regularly adjusted for shifting currency values -- for example, $100 in 1980 would go as far as $290 would today. The difference, of course, is that music sales have fallen, not risen, since 2000. Adjusting for that contraction, Adele's projected first-week sales would be equivalent to her selling 7.59 million units in 2000.

How Adele's '25' Performed on Radio Over the Weekend
Quote:
With that in mind, it is obviously significant that North American programmers -- in all formats -- gave more than 1,200 spins to songs from Adele’s 25 over the first three days of its release (on Nov. 20), according to Nielsen BDSRadio. All ten songs from the album got some airplay, from just under 52 spins for the least-played track to more than 300 for the most-played.
Here’s how the songs from the album, other than “Hello,” were spun in the first three days across North America’s monitored radio stations:
“When We Were Young” (304 spins)
“Water Under The Bridge” (221)
“Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” (160)
“All I Ask” (122)
“Remedy” (100)
“I Miss You” (85)
“Sweetest Devotion” (69)
“River Lea” (59)
“Million Years” (57)
“Love In The Dark” (52)

In its first three days of release, Adele’s 25 has already sold at least 2.3 million in pure album sales in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music.
And, at the present (Nov. 23), industry forecasters suggest the album could finish the week with 2.9 million sold.

After a day on sale, forecasters say '25' could sell at least 2.5 million in its first week in the U.S.
After one day on sale, Adele's 25 appears set to break *NSYNC's long-standing one-week Nielsen-era U.S. album sales record of 2.42 million sold, according to industry forecasters. Sources say the set is on track to sell at least 2.5 million in pure album sales in its first week, and sold more than 900,000 copies alone through the iTunes Store on its first day of release.
*NSYNC currently owns the single largest sales week for an album since Nielsen Music began tracking point-of-sale music purchases in 1991. (Prior to 1991, there was no authoritative music sales tracking service in the U.S. and thus, it was mostly unknown how many copies of an album or song/single were sold in a single week.)
*NSYNC's No Strings Attached debuted with 2,416,000 sold in the week ending March 26, 2000. No Strings Attached has since remained the only album to sell 2 million copies in the U.S. in a single week.
Nielsen Music's tracking week runs Friday through Thursday each week, so 25's first week will conclude on Nov. 26. Billboard is scheduled to report 25's debut week sales on Nov. 29, once Nielsen has finished processing its weekly data.
Before 25's release, it was reported that the album shipped 3.6 million physical copies to retailers. In addition, sources were forecasting 25's CD configuration to sell 1.5 million in its first week, while its digital edition could move another 1 million (meaning, its first week might be at least 2.5 million in total).
