With a amajority of the voters being white people voting in genres they don't even listen to, I'm sure there's some racism in there just like with every other institution.

Not racist. Afraid of change, quick to award 'safe', etc.
The problem with every award show is that the majority of voting bodies are a certain kind, and I'm not just talking about race either.
