After the whole Kelly Clarkson debacle I'm curious. Is gay marriage really a right Is it really an equality issue, or is it blown out of proportion? I understand view multiple points, I'm gay myself. But
I seriously think gay marriage is an issue where you have to consider your upbringing, others and yourself. It's a conscious vote and I think it should stay that way. Disagreeing with marriage does not make you a homophobe.
Do all artists really need to waive their flags in support of gay rights? Are we not just normal people? Why do we have to define ourselves so separately sometimes?
Disagreeing with marriage does not make you a homophobe.
No, but it does make it clear that you don't find homosexuals equal to heterosexuals. Because if you did, you wouldn't try everything in your power to stop them from marrying the person they love.

I think you have got to realise the history behind marriage. Gay people can not have children and it is not the typical ideology of a family. Therefore while I'm not saying it's wrong for gays to get married, but I understand the viewpoints behind it.

Under that logic, infertile heterosexual couples shouldn't get married either .

That must be why they ban couples who don't plan on having children from getting married.

There should be no such thing as "gay marriage". Why do we try to differentiate it? Marriage is marriage.
Honestly, I can understand religious people not believing in gay marriage because, you know, their religion tells them that marriage is between a man and a woman. What I do not understand, however, is when those same people are also opposed to civil unions and/or domestic partnerships. Neither of those things have anything to do with religion, so there's no reason to be against them unless you're just a bigot.
If we don't want to legalize gay marriage, fine, but give gay couples the same rights as straight couples by legalizing civil unions and domestic partnerships because that is what is right.
Is marriage a right? Sure. We all have the right to happiness, and sometimes getting married to the one you love is part of being happy.

Well, not everyone who disagrees with gay marriage does everything in their power to prevent it. Many just have that opinion.
There is a difference between getting your views across in a constructive manner and slamming other people for being racist / homophobic ect.
I feel gays are differentiated, because we make it the way. There are so many events, groups ect that slam "human rights" down more conservative viewpoints. Really I don't think that helps the wider picture.

True, but it's obvious that homosexuals and heterosexuals aren't equal in society
