Anyway it will be top 10 in two weeks, I wonder where it will land when it's all said and done.

It's the biggest song in the past 3 years... Chart wise of course... so well deserved. Will be top 8 easily in 4 weeks.

It might be because there are more countries nowadays that play music that is listened to internationally compared to the 80s and before when there were far more regimes that did not allow any foreign media (but then the biggest stars like Beatles, MJ, Madonna etc were known in those places).

A fourth of the top 12 are from just the last five years - and #13 is Adele from 2011 - and if you really don't think the chart leans too modern, you might want to take a look at the rest of the songs that have made it to this list. Nearly a third of the songs are from 2000 onwards. That percentage will continue to grow rapidly (disproportionately, actually, not just rapidly because the ratio of years after 2000 to years before will increase) with the way that they compile the list and the way their points system is operated.

I mean, that's not even taking into account that they use raw data for current points but have no access to that raw data that they used for the points assigned to hits pre-1999.
