Gary Barlow, Jessie J etc. to guest on Smokey Robinson album
Quote:
A full track list and new release details have been announced for Smokey Robinson‘s upcoming duets album, Smokey & Friends. The release date for the record has been moved up from September 9 to August 19, and a complete list of the Motown legend’s collaborators has been unveiled.
In addition to previously reported duets with Elton John on “Tracks of My Tears” and James Taylor on “Ain’t That Peculiar,” Robinson also teams up with Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler, Mary J. Blige, Sheryl Crow, Cee Lo Green and such contemporary R&B artists as John Legend, Miguel, Aloe Blacc and Jessie J, among others. The 11-track collection features new renditions of classic tunes written or co-written by Smokey. Tyler lends his voice to a version of The Miracles‘ “You Really Got a Hold on Me,” Blige joins Robinson on a rendition of his 1981 hit “Being with You,” and Crow appears on a update of The Miracles’ “The Tears of a Clown.”
You can check out an audio clip of Smokey’s duet with Elton at Robinson’s official website now.
Smokey & Friends was produced by longtime American Idol judge Randy Jackson, and will be available on CD and in digital formats.
