Gaga Ratings Are In For "Watch What Happens Live"

The tenth season of Watch What Happens Live returned this week after a 3 and a half week summer break, with much fanfare from the Bravo Media PR office, but sadly not a lot from Bravo TV’s audience. It seems not only has Waldo disappeared but so has a sizable chunk of Andy Cohen’s WWHL audience.
Sunday’s episode S10E41 featured former cast member of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Danielle Staub, who was cut from that show after its second season, and managed a reasonable but not spectacular audience total of 794,000 viewers at 11pm. Surprisingly. this ended up being Cohen’s largest audience of the week as not even Bethenny Frankel or even Lady Gaga could match those audience numbers.
With only repeat programming airing at 10pm Sunday, Bravo Media made sure that Cohen’s first post-break episode of WWHL wasn’t given a great programming lead-in, but it’s very rare for WWHL to pull less than 1m on any given Sunday.
Monday’s episode featured Adriana De Moura and Ali Larter and despite a first run clip show of Below Deck airing in the 10pm hour (which garnered 919,000 total viewers;501,000 aged 18-49 – Demo 0.4), only 566,000 of those hung around to see Adriana from The Real Housewives of Miami, and actress Ali Larter. But with 378,000 of those aged 18 to 49, that meant two thirds of that night’s total audience fell in the important ad buyers demographic.
Hot off her debut of her first full season of her own talk show, Bethenny Frankel was Cohen’s guest on Tuesday. With her own show debuting nationwide this week at levels described by Deadline.com as “so-so”, Frankel, back in front of her core Bravo audience, would have been hoping for a larger audience than she achieved.
In the end Tuesday’s audience fell short of Sunday’s, as only 730,000 viewers tuned in (578,000 aged 18-49 – Demo 0.30). Bethenny’s 18 to 49 year aged audience at 578,000, was identical to that of Monday’s show, despite her total audience being 164,000 larger. Incidentally, Bethenny’s talk show has lost viewers each day this week, according to this report from TV Media Insights which states the “Three-day overnight track for “Bethenny”: 1.2/ 4 (Mon) – 1.0/ 3 (Tue) – 0.9/ 3 (Wed).”
When I saw Wednesday’s WWHL ratings to say I was shocked, is an understatement. Both Cohen & Bravo PR were excited to get Lady Gaga on the show but obviously Bravo’s audience wasn’t. Despite having Top Chef Masters as the 10pm lead-in attracting 952,000 viewers (437,000 aged 18-49 – Demo 0.30), only 552,000 stayed on at 11pm and of those only 294,000 were aged 18-49, which is just 0.20 in that demo. That means that Lady Gaga had the smallest WWHL audience of the week and that is something I doubt anyone would have predicted.
Based on these disappointing rating numbers, Cohen will no doubt be spending his weekend rounding up Waldo!
