Katy Perry is spending a seventh week at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart with her smash song “Roar”, making it the second longest running No.1 of 2013 behind Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” at eight weeks.
It also gives Katy an accumulated total at the top of the Australian charts of seventeen weeks, moving her from 44th to equal 36th on the list of ‘Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Singles (1940 – 2013)’ alongside Ke$ha and The Platters who have also notched up seventeen weeks at the top with three chart-topping singles.
Plus the last female to spend this long at the top of the ARIA Singles chart was (lead) Adele with “Someone Like You” (from 27-June-11) or (guest) Kimbra on the Gotye track “Somebody That I Used to Know” (from 15-Aug-11) which were back to back No.1’s here.
If Katy stays for an eighth week, she will achieve the longest run at the top this decade by a female artist.
