2013's best selling songs in the UK so far.
Thanks to Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines, Daft Punk’s Get Lucky and Avicii’s Wake Me Up, 2013 looks set to become the biggest year for singles sales in British history!
'Everybody get up!' Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines has replaced Daft Punk’s Get Lucky as the UK’s biggest selling single of 2013 so far.
According to the Official Charts Company’s Quarter 3 sales data, the cheeky summer anthem, which also features US rapper TI and uber producer Pharrell Williams, has sold more than 1.36 million copies to date. Blurred Lines was released back in May and spent five non-consecutive weeks at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart.
Pharrell, who co-wrote and produced the track, also collaborated with Daft Punk on Get Lucky (alongside Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers) which is Number 2 with sales of 1.24 million copies to date.
"I'm humbled by all of the love the UK fans have shown,” Pharrell told OfficialCharts.com upon hearing the news that he had scored his first two UK million selling singles. “But, when you are working with incredible talent like The Robots and Robin, great things are bound to happen!"
Avicii’s Wake Me Up is currently the fastest selling single of 2013, and is at Number 3 with sales of 980,000 to date. It is expected that Wake Me Up will join Blurred Lines and Get Lucky in the Million Sellers Club before the end of this week. Wake Me Up will only be the 140th track to reach such a milestone in British history.
Meanwhile, Mike Rosenberg, AKA Passenger, is at Number 4 with Let Her Go (910,000 sales to date), while Naughty Boy, who produced the biggest selling artist album of the year so far (Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events) completes the Top 5 with La La La FT Sam Smith (887,000 sales).

Having (almost) 3 songs break the 1 million barrier here in 1 year is a pretty impressive achievement.

Yass, "Scream & Shout," yass. Now the U.K. needs to get their act together and put "Work Bitch" on the list.
