I don't think it's fair.
The female artists are all unique or creative (or at least interesting) in their own way.
Almost all male artists have nothing special about them and are safe and generic.

The only MODERN male pop artists that aren't generic are Bruno Mars and Adam Lambert, but they are kinda flopping right now.

All the male pop stars seem like little MJ wannabes in a way or another. Female pop stars are no different. Most are uninteresting except Bey and GaGa and they are rip offs themselves

Because they don't have much choice, woman can explore every corner visually and artistically even if they're straight, all unique creative artists such as Bowie, Prince, Freddie Mercury etc were gays or accused of being gays...

His last solo single hit number 3 on the Hot 100... He just hasn't released anything in a while.
But to answer the question, I think they have to fit a certain, generic sound if they want to have hits because they don't have the same following as the girls do.

Bruno is releasing the first single from his second album TOMORROW. He's just been in the studio working.

And he's worked with a lot of people from Mark Ronson, Jeff Bhasker to Diplo so I think y'all will be in for a surprise.

This is actually true. But, it's not just within music. Even in looks, women have such a range of styles and tastes they can assume and with Men it's not as easy.

Any really different male musician is a rapper who comes out doing something different, I think we have yet to see a really different male singer. I actually think a Male who could sing talk would be really cool !!
