Create a Label 7 | Taylor/Zenny at #1
B A S I C S
Welcome back to the game that we all enjoy and love: Create a Label!
It is a game where you get the chance to become the CEO of your own record
label, sign artists, release material (whether it be singles, albums, or EPs),
go on tour, and make your artists succeed!
P O I N T S
Any and all players start out with 90 points that you will spend on tours
and releasing albums, singles, EPs and other things. You may worry about
spending points for things, but don't fret-- You get points back every week
when the charts come around. The amount of points you get in return depends
on how many copies your artist sold in the week, which is in turn determined
by the amount and type of promotion you did for your material.
To get an understanding of how sales translate to copies, imagine this:
Your artist's single sells 420,000 copies one week. That would mean
you get 42 points back, so essentially, 10,000 copies equals one point.
Some sales will be something along the lines of 375,000 copies or even
487,500-- always round up with these, so for the former, you would get 38
points and with the latter you would get 49.
It should also be noted that signing an artist costs 15 points, per artist.
P R O M O T I N G
In order to get the material your artist(s) release charting, you have to promote
it. Think about what real-life artists and labels do to make their material sell and
chart well-- they book their artists on various TV shows, send their songs to
radio, and do other similar things in hopes to get the public to hear and
subsequently buy the released material. But don't just stick into the confines of
performances and the like-- unique ideas are appreciated and also help
boost your material on the charts. The heart of the game are articles: Posts
made in the thread describing the events your artists attends or creates in
order to promote. You must write articles for things such as performances,
videos, and so on-- Lengthy articles aren't necessary for posts relating
to the actual release of material, but longer articles receive a further
boost for sales. There is a limit of 20 articles per week, and there
will be a deduction for each article over the limit. It should also be noted
that performances on TV shows are free-- but refrain from going on
large-scale award shows, because these will be reserved for CaL events.
Also, even though you may perform in any country or location in the
world, please don't do every country's version of the Voice, X Factor
or other things. Please stick to the American, British and Canadian versions.
R E L E A S I N G
As stated before, it costs points to release material in the first place. The
prices for each kind of material available to release is listed below.
It should be noted that you can only release one album a month (per artist),
one single a week, and two promotional/buzz singles during the week
of an album release. EP's may be released once every two weeks, per artist.
It should also be noted that if you release a special edition of an album,
the sales for it contribute to the base album, so only one version of the
album will ever be charting. Prices are as follows:
ALBUMS -- 10 points base charge for 12 tracks, then 1 point for each additional track.
SPECIAL EDITION ALBUMS -- Price of the previously-bought album, plus 5 points
and then 1 point for each additional track.
ALBUM RE-RELEASE -- 8 points, plus 1 point for each additional track added to the
previously-purchased album.
EP -- 7 points, but must not contain more than 9 tracks.
REMIX EP -- 6 points, but must not contain more than 10 tracks.
SINGLE -- 10 points
REMIX SINGLE -- 10 points
PROMOTIONAL/BUZZ SINGLE -- 5 points
T O U R I N G
Touring is an important part of an artist's album promotion. While singles
performed on the tour can get a small bonus from it, touring is mostly meant
to promote albums, and does wonders for it. Since touring can help an
album amazingly, and also helps out singles in a minor manner, tour slots
are rather expensive, so you should think a lot about your touring plan
before you spend money on slots. Prices are determined per date, meaning
that you can have your artist perform at each kind of venue all in one tour.
You can choose how you wish to mix up your touring venue options.
Your artist can have 6 tour dates a week. Touring articles don't count
towards your 20 promo articles, so with touring articles, you are allowed to
send in 26 articles total. Prices are as follows:
STADIUM DATES -- 13 points
ARENA DATES -- 10 points
THEATER DATES -- 7 points
CLUB DATES -- 3 points
G R O U N DABR U L E S
It can be generally agreed upon that fighting only helps to ruin a season.
I want to make sure that this season lasts as long as possible, and for it
to be as fun and run as smoothly as possible. So, rules have been put
in order to control behavior. But these rules also further explain some
things that may not have been clarified earlier, and help you play.
1. No Fighting -- Nothing serious. A small amount of shade, maybe a quick kii, is all fine,
but the second it gives way to something more serious or starts causing issues, some
action will be taken. If you know you're already on rough terms with someone, do not
try and shade them whatsoever, and don't contribute to any messes. Stay in your lane.
2. Charting Issues -- If you believe that your artist and their material deserves a higher
spot up on the charts, please PM me and I'll try to help explain, or make changes if any
errors were actually made. Please don't make a fuss of it in the thread. Make sure it all
remains in private, please and thank you.
3. Finishing a Week -- Whenever you're done posting your articles and stuff for the week,
have your list ready to go. Send it to me in a PM, and make sure it's neat and organized.
Make sure to include the titles of your articles in the PM, and include links to each of said
articles. Please be sure to also include your label name and the titles of your articles.
4. Respect -- As an add-on to rule #1, make sure you respect the hose and your fellow
contestants. If you're mad over something, try to work it out with either me or the person
you have beef with in private. Do not make a mess in the thread, because that ruins
everything for everybody.
5. Have Fun -- This should be most important. This game is meant for fun. While some
aspects may get serious, don't let it ruin things for you or each other! I know I've enjoyed
it when I've played, and I hope you all will do the same. Happy playing!

Ariana Grande signs to Cayman Records
Ariana Grande and Cayman Records have just announced their new record contract together, making Ariana an official artist of Cayman Records. Cayman Records has previously signed Zedd and Ellie Goulding.
The contract is currently a one-album deal, but can be extended if needed. At least three main singles are required to promote the album, as well as two promotional singles. Additionally, Ariana and the label hope that they can promote the album using an app.
“I’m excited to work with this new label,” said Ariana. “They are giving me so much freedom compared to my last label. While Republic was great for me, I just want to show more of my creativity. Expect to see top-notch collaborations and hit singles from my upcoming album!”
“Ariana is a wonderful talent and we’re proud to have her on her roster,” said Hooky Q. Hookerson, President of Cayman Records. “As a small, one-artist label under the Universal umbrella, we are able to dedicate all of our time and resources on Ariana. We can’t wait to start her new era next week! Until then, you can watch her back-catalog of music videos on her Vevo channel.”
The lead single for her upcoming album is due to be released this Sunday, just before midnight. The title for the single will happen on Saturday, while the album title will be revealed the following week with a promo single and an additional pre-order bonus. Be ready for Ari to dominate!

Of course I forgot to mention how much an artist costs.
15 points.
Sheezus, you don't have enough points to sign that many artists.

Great OP, by the way.
Also a suggestion for the touring rule. Make it so that the only people who have been playing for a certain amount of seasons can book stadiums (2 or 3) and arenas (1 or 2), as it makes no sense to have newbies immediately jumping in those venues.

Mess. Good luck with all those artists.
Good job on the OP though, Eglė. Very professional. Need to read through it though, I just wanted to snatch Ari before anyone else could.
